Red Oak Victory is really a family affair. We have several husband/wife couples who volunteer on the ship and work together. An example are Cris and Charlotte, here working the check-in table at our Tiki Pancake Breakfast. Cal Poly Maritime students Luc Masequesmay (L, Mechanical Engineering, Sophmore) and Emanuel Don Vincent (R, Mechanical Engineering, Junior) volunteered on Red Oak Victory for this morning's Fleet Week Pancake Breakfast. Here they are bright and early in the morning putting up bunting on the gangway prior to the arrival of our guests. It is a beautiful day and the Fleet Week Pancake Breakfast is underway. A few tickets are still available at the door, so come on down to the ship and enjoy breakfast with us. Then stay in the afternoon for the Fleet Week Airshow over the Bay.

We know that marketing guys are always saying things like "Tickets are selling fast!" But, for our Fleet Week Pancake Breakfast it's true! We sold 24 tickets on Saturday, 24 tickets on Sunday, and since Monday morning we've sold another 24! The docent-led tours of the ship are sold out. So if you don't want to miss your chance at a great breakfast, with live music, a w**e tasting, and the Fleet Week Airshow in the afternoon, you'd better act fast! When Red Oak Victory (and all Victory ships for that matter), was constructed there was no way to move horizontally through the ship from one cargo hold to the next. One had to climb out of one hold, move on the main deck to the next, and then climb down into the new hold. Over the years, watertight doors have been added to allow convenient movement horizontally through the ship. This is necessary because we have re-purposed the cargo holds as shops, storage areas, and other operational spaces. The two latest doors we've added allow movement from the engine room to Tween No. 3 which is our machine shop and from that space to Tween No. 2 which is the electrical shop. Here's a couple pictures of these new doors while in progress and completed and painted. This is the kind of work your donations and ticket purchases help us to complete. Thank you!
