The wait is ALMOST over— artoberVA officially kicks off Oct 1 in Richmond! 🎉

2026 marks the return of the artoberVA Pay-What-You-Will Event Series, Arts & Culture Summit, and Artoberfest, as well as exciting new collaborations with local businesses! 🍦🍷

A full month of arts, culture, and community is about to unfold, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.

👏 Meet artist and 2026-27 CultureWorks Community Impact Grantee, Helen Butler.

Helen received a CultureWorks Arts & Culture Community Impact Grant for, "Our History Is In Our Hands", a project aimed at gathering and telling stories from the senior citizens of the African Diaspora communities in Petersburg, Virginia.

She says about the project, "My current awareness is that arts engagement for older adults is as necessary and essential as it is for youth. When older adults are not just recipients of care, but active contributors to culture, relationships, and community life, they are creating stronger communities: reducing isolation, improving mental and physical health, and a deepening a sense of purpose across generations."

The artoberVA Community Advisory Group & the CultureWorks team were thrilled by all of the incredible artwork we received. 💪

Each submission explored the arts, culture, and creative spirit that shape Richmond' and the Tri-Cities' identity and make our region a special place to call home. 🏡❤️
