We have been so fortunate here at RCS to have had the opportunity to work on several paintings by the father of Modern art in Nepal, Lain Singh Bangdel. The painting depicted is a before and after of a Self-Portrait he painted in the 1960s. Bangdel had an incredible career and his family is continuing to educate the public about this amazing artist. His works are currently on display at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. "Transformations: Lain Singh Bangdel, Art, Nepal"

This project was very satisfying- a beautiful landscape of House Mountain in Rockbridge County, Virginia- painted by Pierre Daura. Covered with grime and varnish, we were able to remove layers of discoloration on the surface. We also consolidated some flaking and losses in the landscape. We love Pierre Daura's work! ❤️

And cheers to another one we finished up this year! This sweet still life is signed "L. Swannell/ 1886". It has a British (London) canvas stamp on the back, so the artist is most likely a woman who lived in England! Along with grime and discolored varnish, there was a lot of overpaint in the foreground. The painting had also been exposed to moisture, causing lifting and flaking to the paint down the right side. I love how this one turned out!

This year we have been blessed with lots of work! This sweet painting we actually acquired at an estate sale and fixed it up knowing it could look so much better! Cleaning brought out the signature, which says "E C Darby". We believe this to be a female artist from New Jersey, Elizabeth Clorinda Darby (American, 1844-1906). We just love the unique details of the Pink Urn in this sweet little still life! It is housed in this wonderful frame and is all set to bring some joy!
