In a dozen hours the atrium of the Villa Kathrine will host 20 actors as they gather with writer/director Elizabeth Mannhardt for a first read through of “Juliet & Her Romeo”.

This immersive adaptation reimagines Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers in the Villa’s unique Spanish, Mediterranean, and Moroccan-inspired architecture, with audiences seated at the heart of the action as scenes unfold all around them.

Here’s to new words, beloved quotes, brave actors, creative collaboration, and the first step toward bringing Juliet to her Romeo. ❤️

This Sunday, the atrium of the Villa Kathrine will echo with the first draft of “Juliet & Her Romeo” as 20 actors gather for a table read of this new immersive adaptation.

Part script workshop, part community confab, this reading will help shape a production designed specifically for the Villa—where audiences will sit at the heart of the action as Verona unfolds all around them.

From feuding families and quick-witted friends to star-crossed lovers and impossible choices, we’ll spend the evening discovering what works, what surprises us, and what this story wants to become.

We’re grateful to the talented actors donating their time and voices to this process, and excited to see these characters step off the page for the very first time.

🎭 CALLING ALL ACTORS & CREATIVES! 🎭

Are you ready to bring a classic to life in a whole new way? Join us at the historic Villa Kathrine for a special first draft table read of “Juliet & Her Romeo”!

We are looking for a fantastic cast to fill these roles, as well as individuals interested in production positions. Whether you want to dive headfirst into a main character or get in on the ground floor of creating this unique event, there is a place for you.

📖 How It Works & How to Join:
**Share the Spotlight:** To keep things collaborative and low-pressure, and if numbers allow, multiple actors are welcome to trade off and share roles during the read!
**Get the Script Ahead of Time:** A sample of the script will be sent in advance to those who wish to read.
**How to Sign Up:** If you are interested in reading or interested in joining the production crew, please email our writer/director, Elizabeth Mannhardt, at [email protected]. Please include your specific role interests so she can send over your script!

The Villa Kathrine is seeking passionate, creative, and dedicated collaborators to help bring Verona to life on the Mississippi Bluff.

This exciting new adaptation by writer/director Elizabeth Mannhardt will present Shakespeare’s beloved story in a fresh, condensed format while preserving the iconic moments audiences know and love. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Villa Kathrine, this production promises to be a truly unique theatrical experience for Quincy and the surrounding region.

We are currently seeking applicants for the following production team positions:
• Stage Manager
• Production Assistant
• Properties Manager
• Costume Technician
• Technical Director

These team members will work alongside writer/director Elizabeth Mannhardt and Production Manager/Board President Donna Haire to help create something extraordinary from the ground up.
