Founded in 1968 and a second-generation family business, Locks Gallery continues to handle works of artists it worked with in their lifetime– for example, Edna Andrade, Louise Bourgeois, Thomas Chimes, Nancy Graves, Robert Motherwell, Louise Nevelson, Warren Rohrer, and George Segal. Historical survey exhibitions are presented alongside new projects by a small stable of contemporary artists in the

gallery’s three floors and rooftop sculpture garden. Curators have been invited to activate the gallery as a project space, including Fionn Meade, Klaus Ottmann, Raphael Rubenstein, Barry Schwabsky, Robert Storr and Lilly Wei. Locks Art Publications regularly develops catalogswith new scholarship by invited critics and poets. Working closely with museums, the gallery prides itself on recently placing works at the Hirshhorn, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, Met, MFA Boston, and MoMA.
