Discover the traditional Japanese practice of Nerikomi! 🌀

Join us for a one day workshop with Mackenzie Pikaart, where you’ll learn the basics of Nerikomi, a layering technique that creates agate or patterned surfaces through hand building.

Students will learn how to achieve patterned & linear surfaces, and what tools are needed to continue this practice.

Chris Staley (he/him) is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Art at Penn State University. In 2021, he received an NCECA Excellence in Teaching Award. Chris recently had a book published, Teaching Art and Life. He has received two National Endowment for the Arts Grants, and his work is in many collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, as well as friends’ cupboards.

Join our upcoming Soda Kiln firing on October 27 and see how atmospheric firings transform the surface of your pieces💥

Here’s how it works:
•When you reserve a spot you’ll have a 12” x 12” x 12” space to fill with your work.
•All pieces must be bisqued beforehand and must be a ^6 (or higher) rated clay.
•Glazing & wadding must be done at our studio with our glazes. Provided Supplies include: Flashing slips, cone 6 glazes, wax, and wadding.

We’re kicking off our fall season of Clay & Conversations with Resident artist alumni and Gallery artist, Celia Feldberg(Celia Feldberg Ceramics)!

Celia will talk about her current exhibition in our Gallery, Getting There, and her process of making the artwork for it.

Join us in person on the 4th floor of our building, or online via zoom. See you there!

“My work incorporates narrative imagery, playful humor, and bright color on ceramic forms to invite connection and impart joy. The pieces themselves are often functional or made for the wall, intended to become part of a home where they can be seen and engaged with often.”

Thank you to everyone who came out to the opening reception for our Resident Artist alumni exhibitions, Getting There by Celia Feldberg and Inter Face by Soojin Choi, as well as our 20th anniversary of Small Favors.

It was wonderful to see so many artists and community members come out for such a special evening!
