This piece by Jon Poblador titled, Composition No. 53, is featured in his solo exhibition 'Chapel of Color' at Bridgette Mayer Gallery. On this significance on this piece, Jon states:

"The red feels strong, grounded, almost unshakable. But its presence depends on everything around it—the muted tones that soften it from below and the quiet structure that holds it in balance. Those colors had to be chosen carefully. The canvas was originally oriented horizontally, with the bands running vertically. But turning it this way gave the composition more weight.

“The teacup is already broken.” A Zen saying that reminds us nothing is truly fixed, no matter how solid it seems. Colors, like all things, exist in constant relationship with their surroundings. Shift one, and the whole balance changes.

This painting reminded me of that idea. Strength and stillness. Contrast and harmony. The way perception shifts, even when the form remains the same."

Take a moment for quiet reflection this week and pop by to see Chapel of Color in person. We're here Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm.

Sharing some color for your Sunday!

In her 'Cut Out' series, Gallery Artist Jessica Backhaus manipulates small pieces of colored paper, which curl up from exposure to the sun. The resulting photographs create an interesting play of dimensionality and shadow that you can practically touch. We love the contrasting colors and shapes created in these images!

Check out this fantastic time-lapse video of Sarah Helen More's, ' On a Clear Day You Can See Forever', a 29 x 6.5 ft glass mosaic at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. More completed this public art project in February and it represents the dynamic and emotional nature of travel through bright colors, shapes, and symbols representing the sky and movement.

June is here and that means summer is just around the corner!

Looking back at this beautiful mural that Tim McFarlane completed which overlooks a pool in this luxury apartment complex in Orlando. I can't imagine a more perfect summer day than enjoying custom art by the poolside 😎

While Neil Anderson was well known for his large oil paintings from his Earth Song series, he also worked in watercolors.

Neil was a strong colorist and often experimented with contrasting and complimentary hues which were inspired by the environment and natural phenomena. I love how this piece is vibrant with brilliant red, but anchored by the earthy greens and cool blues.
