TREE WORK SCHEDULED FOR HISTORIC CEMETERY

Monday, September 25 (weather permitting) extensive tree work will begin in the historic Upper Burying Ground at 6309 Germantown Avenue. Work is expected to take 2 or 3 days.

A very large crane will access the cemetery from the parking lot of the Brand New Life Christian Center.
The crane must be able to make the turn from Washington Lane into the parking lot without obstruction.
Please do not park in the spaces that are the closest to the gate on either side.
If the gateway is too narrow due to parked cars, the crane will be forced to block traffic while they attempt the turn - or parked vehicles may sustain damage.

No healthy trees are being removed - only dead/dying trees or invasive species.
New, native trees will be planted after a full site plan is complete.

Great news for a local historic cemetery:

Philadelphia preservationists are plotting a new course for the home of the Barrymore family and 19th-century beer barons after a judge appointed a conservator to rehab the historic cemetery.
