Pentimenti may have taken a little summer break, but our team clearly forgot to take one. ☀️

We spent the summer visiting exhibitions, discovering new work, exploring art and architecture, and, of course, collecting plenty of inspiration along the way.

Now that fall is calling, we’re excited to share a few summer highlights, and what’s coming next at Pentimenti. 🎨

🥁 Congratulations to Jackie Milad on winning AIGA’s 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2025 for “Shabtis Gather”! The book will now join the AIGA collection at Columbia University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library, in New York.

AIGA’s competition recognizes the fifty best-designed books and fifty best-designed covers of the year. This year, the winners were selected by a jury from 536 entries representing 29 countries. Established in 1923 as the Fifty Books of the Year competition, the program is now in its 102nd year, making it one of the longest-running design competitions in the United States.

“Shabtis Gather” was published by Jackie Milad in partnership with BmoreArt and designed by Raquel Castedo. ⭐

📣 PENTIMENTI is pleased to announce our inaugural participation in The Armory Show 2026 (September 24–27), with a solo presentation by Namwon Choi.
PENTIMENTI will be exhibiting in the Solo Section, Booth 435.

Namwon Choi explores moments in motion through paintings and 3D works inspired by road trips, transforming the emotional experience of distance, memory, and seeing loved ones from afar into a nontraditional family portrait.

“The House That Freedoms Built explores the history and legacy of colonialism in the Caribbean, particularly on the island of St. Croix, which was a Danish colony for 200 years before becoming a United States territory. The architectural design and its distinctive motifs are inspired by 18th-century houses built by formerly enslaved people and by the stories of struggle, survival, and resistance that Belle uncovered in her research. Her artistic interpretation of the visual reminders of this history honors communities whose stories may otherwise be forgotten. The House That Freedoms Built invites viewers to learn about this history and reflect on how the legacy of colonization continues to impact social and cultural paradigms today. […]”
