Guess where she will be next???

“Does making abstract art seem intimidating or baffling to you?” asks award-winning artist Rachael Wren (). “Want to take your work beyond representation but not sure how to begin? Then this workshop is for you!”

Wren is teaching “Moving Towards Abstraction” on March 23-24, a special workshop that promises to give you tools to discover and develop your personal artistic voice.

“Participants will explore and experience the process of abstracting from the observed world, learning how to find and capture the inner spirit of what they are looking at. We will address the concept of scale and discuss strategies for developing an effective composition.”

Yesterday we formally announced our representation of although it has been a de facto reality for a while. It is rare for me to be introduced to a body of work that I find as poignant, relevant and powerful. Exhibiting the work, following the growing appeal and public enthusiasm for it has been a lesson in humility and gratitude. Having worked with Torrance on the layout of her monograph was awesome. Many thanks to for the introduction and to for her powerful essay.
Torrance’s exhibition at is up@through the 28th but for those of you who can make it there is a talk tomorrow at 3 pm titled Sunday Spotlight: Creativity and the Brain, a conversation with developmental neuropsychologist David H. Rose, moderated by Learning & Engagement Coordinator, Katherine Tako-Girard. Register on the Danforth’s website. Seats are limited.
Didn’t get our announcement? Sign up on the gallery website or DM me and I’ll add you.

Today on The Marginalian, something many layers of delightful: The science and poetry of anthotypes – Emily Dickinson’s herbarium, recreated in hauntingly beautiful flower pigment prints via a Victorian image-making process developed by the woman for whom the word “scientist” was coined: themarginalian.org (link in profile)

As photographers learn to grapple with the challenges of representing the self in an increasingly complex arena of identity politics we are honored to work with as brave and determined artist as Torrance York. Semaphore is an intensely personal essay that touches so many who share the infliction of Parkinson’s Disease. Bravo.

Repost from

My solo show of Semaphore runs through January 28th. Join us in 2 weeks for one last program on Sunday, 1/21 at 3pm. I am really looking forward to my conversation with developmental neuropsychologist David H Rose about creativity, Parkinson and the brain. Thank you Katherine Tako-Girard for planning this program and moderating our discussion.

Link in bio to register. Free with museum admission.

In Semaphore I examine the shift in my perspective after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 8 years ago. What I have found remarkable about making this project is the positive impact the creative process has had on my wellbeing and outlook.

• Leah and I are offering this “out-take” anthotype from our Emily Dickinson project, “This Earthen Door.” For each page of Dickinson‘s book of pressed plants, we made both a positive AND a negative anthotype. In our project we use only one- in this case, for herbarium page 5, wild rose - we use the negative. ✨✨✨

8.5x11 inches print size. Archival pigment print.
Print available through January 1st ONLY.

🌸 Did you know that roses are the flower that Emily Dickinson referenced most often in her poems and letters, followed by daisies? ✨🌸✨

Note extra charge for FED EX guarantee Christmas delivery date. Print signed on verso. For orders placed after December 16th, prints will be mailed in early January. We thank you for your abundant support of art, poetry, science and Emily love! ✨💗🙏💗✨
