🎂 Happy 196th Birthday, Phineas Banning!

Born on August 19, 1830, Phineas Banning left a mark on Southern California that can still be seen today.

From stagecoaches and railroads to shipping and the development of Wilmington, his vision helped connect a growing Los Angeles to the wider world—and earned him the title “Father of the Port of Los Angeles.”

And the home he built in 1864? It’s still standing—and today, it’s The Banning Museum. 🏛️

🎉 The Banning Museum Summer Bash is coming — and there's a way to celebrate that fits every mood.

🍖 Go VIP: Sit back and let Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que take care of dinner — think fall-off-the-bone ribs, smoky chicken, mac & cheese, and all the fixings. VIP tickets are $65/person, or reserve a full table of 8 for $500 and make a night of it with your crew.

🧺 Or go DIY: Pack your own picnic, bring your blanket or low chair, and set up your own little corner of the lawn — Victorian cosplay optional, creativity encouraged. Picnic tickets are just $10.

🎶 However you celebrate, you'll get the same thing: live music, dancing, and an evening on the grounds of Phineas Banning's historic 1864 estate — honoring his birthday and America's 250th, together.
