Dayna Thacker - "Ancestry of Belonging" on view August 13 - September 11 - Opening Reception August 14, 6-9 PM

Influenced by contemplative spiritual traditions, theoretical physics, and the natural world, Dayna Thacker creates collages, cut paper installations, and ikebana-based sculpture in an ongoing exploration of impermanence, systems of meaning, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Thacker has shown work across the American South, and her work has appeared in ART PAPERS, New American Paintings, ARTSATL.org, Burnaway, and The Atlantan Modern Luxury, among others.

Before moving her practice to Birmingham, AL, Thacker served on the staff of The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences and curated and managed Gallery Stokes in Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill arts district. She is a past Atlanta Contemporary studio artist and finalist for the Forward Arts Foundation Emerging Artist Award.

Thacker holds a BFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Colleen Maria Casey - "Ancestry of Belonging" on view August 13 - September 11 - Opening Reception August 14, 6-9 PM

Colleen Maria Casey is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and curator. Her early work, which included the nationally exhibited series "Family," established her as a prominent figure in Atlanta’s photography scene, where she was a Fulton County Arts Council Individual Artist Grant Recipient and a studio artist at the Nexus Contemporary Art Center.

Casey’s artistic journey now expands beyond photography to a deep-seated practice in fiber arts, including weaving, surface design, and natural dyeing. She is also the founder of Some Art Fabric, LLC, a company born from her passion for textiles.

As an educator, Casey has shared her passion for art across diverse platforms, from teaching K-12 students to leading workshops at the John C. Campbell Folk School and Earthskills Rendezvous.

Casey holds a BFA from SCAD - The University for Creative Careers and an MA from Georgia State University. Her work in "Ancestry of Belonging" is sponsored in part by a grant through Atlanta Contemporary Nexus Fund from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

MaDora Frey's "Arabia Pollen Drift Pool" showcases her outdoor intervention series — temporary outdoor installations that are preserved and documented through photographs, allowing her to create freely without the constraints and logistics required of permanent outdoor artwork.

"Like my other work, ['Arabia Pollen Drift Pool'] seeks to amplify the convergence of light, earth, plant material, rock, and pattern in service of expressing a moment of wonder."

This piece is currently on view in our "Spruill Studios Pop-Up" exhibition (July 1-31).
