Maria Grazia Rosin’s works in the show ‘Morbide Macchine Silicee’ are also presented through the perspectives of a leading Italian photographer: Mario Cresci. In this context, photography is not merely a form of documentation, but an integral part of the creative process: a space for dialogue in which artists and photographers share a vision and work together to create new narratives around the artwork.

Mario Cresci’s photographs focus on ‘Gelatine LUX’, the project created by Maria Grazia Rosin at Palazzo Fortuny between 2007 and 2008. Through his distinctive visual language, Cresci interprets the installation beyond its documentary dimension, conveying its dreamlike atmosphere and the complex interplay of glass, light, digital imagery, and sound. His photographs thus become a new work in their own right, capable of amplifying the visionary power of the installation.

Mario Cresci’s (Chiavari, 1942) works are held and exhibited by some of the world’s most important museums and cultural institutions. Internationally, his historic works are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

We are happy to announce that ‘Morbide Macchine Silicee’, Maria Grazia Rosin’s solo exhibition at our Milan gallery, has been extended through October 3rd, 2026. Following the summer break, the exhibition will continue to welcome visitors, offering more time to discover the artist’s unique vision and practice.

As summer arrives, THE POOL NYC will be taking a short seasonal break. 🏊‍♀️

Our Milan gallery will remain open through Friday, July 24th, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th. 🏖️

William Klein, ‘This way to Heaven’ Les Rencontres d'Arles

William Klein is celebrated for his large photographic frescoes depicting New York, Rome, Moscow, Tokyo and Paris. However, his openly critical and political body of work remains relatively unknown. To mark the centenary of his birth, the exhibition This Way to Heaven showcases the artist’s commitment, combining photographs, paintings, films and drawings, and reveals many previously unseen documents. In a corpus that is as caustic as it is visionary, William Klein portrays the visual spectacle provided by the mass media and the power systems they perpetuate.

Within this delicate balance of light and shadow, form and dissolution, Tristano di Robilant works become “emotional landscapes and imagined architectures.” Each piece reflects on memory, imagination, and the duality at the heart of human experience, inviting viewers to explore spaces suspended between dream and reality.

‘Ombrosi Chiostri’ grew out of the artist’s fascination with Torquato Tasso (1544–1595). In his Rime (1567–1593), the Renaissance poet wrote, “bramo ombrosi chiostri” (“I long for shaded cloisters”). The image of the cloister as a place of peace, where the soul can find solace, is evoked through a composition of irregular glass spheres, sheltered beneath a dome of deep amber glass.

‘Quiete Marina’ is inspired by Gabbiani (Seagulls) by Vincenzo Cardarelli, in which the poet longs for “the great tranquility of the sea” yet lives “flashing through the storm.” Di Robilant’s sculpture evokes the serenity of an underwater world while echoing the rich, complex palette of the polyptych by Paolo Veneziano displayed in the same gallery.

The ‘Sibilla’ evoked by Tristano di Robilant is not so much the mythological figure beloved by the god Apollo, but rather the one referenced by T. S. Eliot in the epigraph to The Waste Land: “I saw the Sibyl at Cumae hanging in a jar.” In di Robilant’s interpretation, she takes the form of a solid, sculptural presence, where layers of intense pinks interact with the thematic concerns of the ceiling and echo the chromatic passages of Vasari’s painting, the work of a highly sophisticated Mannerist artist.

‘Un tempo per spargere pietre’, un tempo per raccogliere pietre draws inspiration from the Book of Ecclesiastes and represents the cycle of life. The forms, created using the ice glass technique, appear as suspended stones that capture and refract light.

🐠GLASS OVER PLASTIC🐠

The ‘Detergens’ Series is made of one-of-a-kind polychrome glass bottles which simulate household plastic products of daily use.
Rosin started in 1989 to transfer her New-Pop experiences gained in the world of painting into the medium of artistic glass. Her works are often on the edge of a subtle, but open irony. These bottles acquire new meaning because they are made in blown venetian glass where every specific function is absolutely canceled and they live exclusively by virtue of their immediate representative artistic value and incredible colors.

La serie “Detergens” è composta da bottiglie di vetro policromo uniche nel loro genere che simulano prodotti di plastica di uso quotidiano. Rosin ha iniziato nel 1992 a trasferire le sue esperienze New-Pop maturate nel mondo della pittura nel mezzo del vetro artistico. Le sue opere sono spesso sul filo di una sottile, ma aperta ironia. Queste bottiglie acquistano un nuovo significato perché sono realizzate in vetro soffiato veneziano dove ogni funzione specifica è assolutamente annullata e vivono esclusivamente in virtù del loro immediato valore artistico rappresentativo e degli incredibili colori.
