Dal 12 al 14 giugno tornano le Giornate Europee dell’Archeologia, quale migliore occasione per visitare il e scoprire la torre del circo romano, normalmente non inclusa nel percorso di visita.
La torre rappresenta la parte meglio conservata dell’antico edificio per spettacoli, costruito in stretta connessione con il Palazzo Imperiale tra la fine del III secolo d.C. e gli inizi del IV secolo d.C. quando Milano divenne una delle capitali dell’Impero. Originariamente affiancava i cancelli di partenza delle corse dei carri e si è conservata fino a oggi grazie alla sua trasformazione in campanile della chiesa del Monastero Maggiore.

From 12 to 14 June, the European Archaeology Days return. What better opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum of Milan and discover the Roman Circus Tower, normally not included in the museum’s visitor route.
The tower is the best-preserved part of the ancient entertainment venue, built in close connection with the Imperial Palace between the late 3rd and early 4th century AD, when Milan became one of the capitals of the Roman Empire. It originally flanked the starting gates of the chariot races and has survived thanks to its later transformation into the bell tower of church of the Monastero Maggiore.
