Established in 2014, JPS Gallery is an independent contemporary art gallery in Hong Kong and Tokyo

The gallery is founded with a passionate spirt that dedicates to the new digital age and the exploration of the world of fine art and pop culture. 🇭🇰 P***y Lai’s Solo Exhibition │ OMG《退神殿》

Fast becoming one of the most intriguing pieces among visitors at "OMG", "The Modern Romance Great Compassion Mantra" borrows the visual language of Buddhist scripture to dissect three realities of contemporary love through the lens of “greed, anger, and delusion.”

“Greed” corresponds to the modern situationship, where both sides want the benefits of intimacy, yet neither is willing to take responsibility. “Anger” reflects the “I suffer the most” mentality, in which every relationship becomes an accusation, leaving one to play the victim while refusing to look back at their own faults. “Delusion” captures the exhausting loop of fast-food dating: the endless cycle of swiping, matching, growing tired, and matching again on dating apps, until love and desire can no longer be told apart.

The experience is completed by an interactive AI chanting machine. In a cold, synthetic voice, it recites these tailor-made “false scriptures” for modern people, performing a spiritual deliverance for our romantic attachments. Here, the solemnity of scripture collides with the absurdity of love, leaving us laughing first, then falling silent.

作為《退神殿》中最受觀眾矚目的作品之一，《現代愛情大悲咒》借用佛經的視覺語言，以「貪、嗔、痴」書寫三種現代愛情故事。

「貪」對應 Situationship（情境式戀愛）——雙方都想要親密的好處，卻沒有人願意負起責任；「嗔」對應「我最慘」模式——把每段感情放大成控訴，把自己活成受害者，卻不願回望自己的部分；「痴」對應速食交友——在交友軟件上不斷滑動、配對、厭倦、再配對，分不清愛與慾。

展場特設 AI 唸佛機互動裝置：以冰冷的 AI 聲音，唸誦這些為現代人度身訂造的「偽經」，為愛情執念進行一場精神「超渡」。經文的莊嚴與愛情的荒謬碰撞，令人笑完之後沉默。

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us last weekend for the Artist-Led Tour with P***y Lai. It was a remarkable afternoon of open dialogue, shared insights, and intimate explorations of her latest works.

For those who have yet to visit, "OMG" transforms the gallery into a sanctuary of deconsecration. Through a striking blend of sharp satire and meticulous craftsmanship, the exhibition elegantly dismantles the modern expectations and societal KPIs we so often blindly worship. It is a deeply personal reflection on a decade of artistic evolution and the profound power of letting go.

Now on view at JPS Gallery Tokyo: “The Shape of Hope”, a duo exhibition by Maiko Yoshizawa and Ayaka Fariha. Materializing the intangible, this exhibition explores how hope takes physical form through two contrasting yet deeply connected visual languages.

Maiko Yoshizawa looks inward to explore the visceral mechanics of transformation, depicting bodies in continuous metamorphosis as resilient vessels of emotional possibility. In contrast, Ayaka Fariha turns outward to harness the prismatic energy of the cosmos, transforming the vibrant life force of everyday nature into her signature, vivid rainbow palette.

Together, they present hope as something evolving and alive—created through the courage to transform oneself and discover through attentive observation.

吉澤舞子は内面へと意識を向け、身体の絶え間ないメタモルフォーゼ（変容）を岩絵具で描くことで、心理的な可能性を秘めた「器」としての希望を表現します。対してAyaka Farihaは外なる世界へ意識を向け、「希望の虹色」をテーマに、動植物が持つ生命力や自然界のエネルギーを独自のビビッドな色彩へと変換します。

🇯🇵 August Vilella 10th Anniversary Show │ “Time” at GINZA ATRIUM

For ten years, August Vilella has allowed time to guide his brush.

Approaching the canvas without preliminary sketches, he builds his surreal landscapes through pure intuition, letting his mysterious characters emerge organically from delicate layers of oil paint.

To mark this milestone, each new work in his current exhibition gently bears the number “10” beside his signature. Yet, the true anchor of these paintings remains the luminous gaze of his creations. They are not bound by a fixed narrative. Instead, they act as open vessels, inviting you to look inward and rediscover your own unspoken stories and memories.

As “Time” enters its final days at GINZA ATRIUM, we invite you to experience this deeply personal dialogue in person. The exhibition officially concludes on October 21.

この10年間、オーガスト・ヴィエラは、時の流れに導かれるように筆を走らせてきました。下描きをせずにキャンバスに向き合い、純粋な直感に従ってシュルレアリスムの風景を描き出す彼。繊細な油絵具の層を重ねながら、神秘的なキャラクターたちを自然に浮かび上がらせていきます。

この節目を記念して、今回の展覧会に出展されている新作の一つひとつには、サインの横に「10」という数字がそっと添えられています。しかし、これらの絵画の真の核となっているのは、作品に描かれたキャラクターたちの輝く眼差しです。そこには、決められた物語はありません。むしろ、作品は鑑賞者それぞれの内面へと誘う開かれた器のような存在です。鑑賞者は作品と向き合うことで、自分自身の内側を見つめ、言葉にならなかった物語や記憶を再発見していきます。

GINZA ATRIUMで開催中の「Time」も、いよいよ終幕が近づいています。

Just as all moments eventually fold into memory, Kim Hyunkyung’s “Time for the Moment” draws to a close this week at JPS Gallery Tokyo.

We have been deeply moved to see so many of you step out of the city’s rush to find a quiet sanctuary among these works.
