— Centre Pompidou, Paris

Love it or loathe it, the Centre Pompidou remains one of the most controversial and instantly recognisable buildings in Paris. Its daring inside-out design gives the museum one of the most distinctive exteriors in Europe, while inside sits one of the continent’s richest and most diverse collections of modern and contemporary art.

From modern masters such as Chagall, Miró and Magritte, to Cubist pioneers including Braque, Picasso and Léger, the collection spans some of the most important artistic movements of the twentieth century and beyond. Outside, visitors are greeted by striking public installations, including Alexander Calder’s monumental sculpture Horizontal and the vibrant Stravinsky Fountain, inspired by the composer Igor Stravinsky.

Currently undergoing a major renovation project scheduled for completion in 2030, the Centre Pompidou is entering a new chapter while preserving its status as a landmark of modern architecture and culture.

Discover exceptional works by Chagall, Miró, Picasso and Alexander Calder on our website, or visit the gallery to explore the collection in person.

In 'Goldfish Bowl', Jack Milroy combines humour with observation, filling a glass bowl with crumpled and balled-up pages. As he put it, 'The world is like a goldfish bowl' — though the work also resembles a rubbish bin, packed with pages of atlases and fragments of information.

Typical of Milroy’s practice, ordinary materials are transformed into something playful, familiar and quietly thought-provoking.

Last 2 days to see this wonderful, immersive exhibition at Shapero Modern.

Jack Milroy transforms a Collins Gem Guide to Cats into the very creature it describes. By meticulously slicing the cover into delicate 3D whiskers around the spine, he playfully blurs the line between the medium and the message.

- With a scalpel and remarkable precision, Jack Milroy cuts, crumples and layers the pages of books into intricate sculptural worlds suspended somewhere between collage and theatre. His technique transforms printed paper into something unexpectedly alive — where fragments of text become movement, texture and form.

In 'Monkey' (2024), a playful sense of chaos runs through the work – from vibrant flowers to jet planes, birds and fishes. Both witty and wonderfully detailed, the piece invites us to look again at an everyday object and discover something extraordinary concealed within its pages.

If you’re reading this, please bring back the original sardine tin design so Jack can continue turning them into masterpieces!

In 'The Librarian’s Psittacines', Jack Milroy transforms paper into a flock of birds, balancing meticulous craftsmanship with a sense of movement and intrigue.

Borrowing its title from the scientific name for parrots, the work reflects Milroy’s long-standing fascination with books, collecting and the way information can seem to take on a life of its own.

As London turns its attention to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, we’re celebrating a different kind of spectacle at Shapero Modern.

In 'Bibliophilia', Jack Milroy’s 3D sculptural works weave together the world of books and flowers, with intricate cut-out blooms bringing each piece to life.

- Gustav Klimt's studio 'Klimt Villa' in Vienna

Known for his luminous gold leaf, intricate symbolism, and richly decorative portraits, Gustav Klimt became one of the defining artists of the Vienna Secession, transforming fin-de-siècle art with works that blurred the line between painting, design, and ornament.

Born in Vienna in 1862, Klimt remains deeply woven into the city’s cultural identity — making it especially fitting that Eurovision 2026 returns to Vienna this year. With the grand finale taking place today, the city is once again at the centre of European creativity, spectacle, and artistic expression — very much in the spirit of Klimt himself.

You can explore our collection of works by Klimt via the link in bio.

When a book quite literally earns its whiskers!

In this brilliant sculptural piece by Jack Milroy, a vintage 'Collins Gem Guide to Cats' leaps off the shelf and into the third dimension. By meticulously slicing the cover into delicate, outward-curving strips, Milroy transforms the physical guide into the very creature it describes. With the spine proudly reading 'CATS' acting as the center of the face, the artwork playfully blurs the line between the medium and the message.

It is a masterful, witty display of Milroy's signature cut-book technique. You can view this feline transformation in person at Shapero Modern as part of his exhibition 'Bibliophilia' running until 31st May.
