Very delighted that Lightfalls #4 is off to a new home. The original inspiration for these works was from observing and photographing refracted light from a crystal decanter in my mum’s house just a day before she passed away. The light was bouncing around the room and it filled me with peace. Subsequently I then ‘went deep’ in photoshop and created another sort of dimension of light that I couldn’t tell you how I did it but visitors this weekend have pointed out that there’s something ‘spacey’ about them and so that has been a bit of a revelation. I like to think that those that I’ve loved and lost are back in the stars and so maybe that’s what’s going on in this piece.

Showing this weekend and next as part of the Friends of the Galleries show in Brixton. Sculptural Movements in Green #1 - this was the first in an ongoing series of still life studies taken from large scale wall installations. The original ephemeral compositions on paper were ‘drawn with a knife’ making intuitive spacial forms that take over the whole of my studio wall. In these close up studies which I photograph using coloured light I’m seeking to discover and communicate space, form and something physical and ‘other’. They are a meditation on love, closeness and connection.

The show opens on Saturday 6 and continues to Sunday 14th.

You probably already know about the fascination with light and colour I have … well here’s things at play in the studio sunlight today- studies for some bigger things. I’m showing some of these small works next month on Sunday 16 November in Dulwich College with - the light may not be in my favour that day but you’re always welcome to come for a studio visit.

Hello 👋- so I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus on this account while working on my own work as an artist and making decisions about where to go next. I’m pleased to say that myself and 6 other artists have formed a group named High Vis Projects which launches this coming Friday 2nd May. You can find out the info by going over to the dedicated instagram account and following there. Come and have a look

High Vis came about as a name for a number of reasons but partly in response to a comment last year made by a curator that painted a picture that we had somehow been overlooked. None of us feel that way about our art or our artistic practice. We are very much invested in our practices and are High Vis Projects.

For the moment I’m keeping this account for mentoring news and artist collaborations and you can follow studio journal over
