Azawala

Azawala The gallery has closed in Brixton and will be re-opening at a new venue early 2022. Our launch date will soon be announced

The space will be open to the community for artistic and creative workshops, classes and exhibitions. Azawala was born in Britain in 2010 from two brothers of Ghanaian heritage. Jos and Nick have travelled extensively in their quest to source, support and nurture emerging African artists with a strong emphasis on Ghana. We all conjure up images when the word "Africa" is mentioned. It reminds us of

The Big 5, famine, palm trees and Masai warriors, all of which are synonymous with "The Dark Continent". We have a different vision that needs to be shared. Expel the stereotypes and just scratch the surface - you will be amazed. Vibrant colours, deft brush-strokes, lifelike sculptures and carvings makes our collection a must-have when considering unique contemporary African art. Very little will be obvious as to what you will find, and for those who like to collect individual pieces, your tour will be a pleasant journey with many sights and insights along the way.
