Dancing Houses in Seillans by Julia Maleeva

'My art is a deconstruction process of layers of paint waiting to be scraped and then layered back in a different perspective - a fusion between drypoint and oil paint wrapped in cold wax. I use wax as one of the main ingredients in my paintings, and this allows me to create unique textures.' Julia Maleeva, 2026.

Who needs the South of France when there’s a hefty hint of it right here in SW10? We held Julia Maleeva’s Private View last night - a balmy evening where family, friends and collectors gathered to enjoy her sun-drenched oil paintings hanging in the London gallery. ‘Tales of the Mediterranean’ runs until Friday 12th June.

Julia Maleeva’s solo show ‘Tales of the Mediterranean’ is on display in our London gallery until Friday 12 June 🗓️

‘I work only with palette knives and I often add natural pigment to the pre-mixed oil/wax substance - the pigment comes from various places: Provence, Italy, Cornwall and might include sand, chopped seaweed, or just scraps of old paint from my palette. I use my imagination to reuse everything again into the painting and create a kind of sustainable art.’ Julia Maleeva, 2026.

You can view the exhibition at 2 Park Walk, London, SW10 0AD 📍

Cobbled Alleys Deserted under the Sun, Grimaud by Julia Maleeva

Today is the first day of Julia Maleeva's solo show 'Tales of the Mediterranean' in our London gallery 📍

This exhibition is inspired from Julia's travels around the villages of Provence, Liguria, Andalusia, the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and the fishing villages of Cornwall.

Julia's method of painting is an involved process of carefully drawing and applying wax to the surface. Exploring the two-dimensional relationship between form, colour and texture is her primary interest alongside the challenge of maintaining the right balance between graphic lines and colours.

The Afternoon Dreams of Madame Rouge

Julia's solo show 'Tales of the Mediterranean' is commencing this Wednesday until Friday 12 June in our London gallery 📍

'I've been inspired with the characters and memories of old houses for as long as I can remember. I think I have a kind of romantic relationship with them; some days they are sad and mysterious, and the next day they smile and are telling stories - a theatre play without an interval, only interrupted by the buzzing of bees ... these are my Tales of the Mediterranean.' Julia Maleeva, 2026.
