Dear Friends, wishing you a very happy New Year, and a smooth ride through the Year of the Red Horse!

I love this lesser known red horse painting by Petrov-Vodkin (he of the celebrated "Bathing of the Red Horse"). Aptly titled "Fantasy", the Red Horse is flying its rider towards his dreams - the rider is perhaps still uncertain of letting go of his past, but his horse is flying fearlessly into the future. May the year of the Red Horse lead you gently to the places where you would like to be, however they may change along the way.

With much love and gratitude,
Katrine

Each artwork is a story. This week - the eternal conversation between the light, the sea, and the cliffs is so reassuringly universal. Gao Xiang’s “Silent Cliffs” series speaks it well. Each artwork is a story. This week - have you ever wondered what your future self might be?

In one of my favourite paintings by Chen Li, he projected himself about 20 years into his future. With his back curved due to an old bar fight injury (don’t ask), he is standing peacefully on the edge of a stream, having reached tranquility within and without. Now, that is tempting. Very tempting.
