I didn’t expect to leave Frieze London asking this question… There was extraordinary talent, beautiful storytelling and some remarkable craftsmanship. But something felt missing.

At a time when our sense of community and shared purpose is being challenged, where was is the art confronting the bigger questions?
Did I just miss it? I’m going back to Frieze looking for answers. And I’d genuinely love your recommendations.

rt and interior design can be like two siblings, squabbling over attention. But what happens when they learn to get along?

At this week, two designers offer rather different answers.

Joanna Hauptman at blurs the boundaries, bringing artistic expression directly into bespoke furniture. Meanwhile, has created an Alpine-inspired VIP Lounge where art, fabrics, furniture and textures were considered together from the outset.

Two different approaches. One important lesson: great design isn’t just decoration. It’s the visual landscape of our lives, shaping how we feel and experience the spaces around us.

I discovered an AI-manipulated version of one of my Instagram videos. My voice, my face, my words... except I DON’T TALK LIKE THAT.

I’d enabled Meta’s AI translation feature without realising quite how disturbing the results could be. That led me down another rabbit hole. Meta can also use public Instagram content to train its AI models.

If you’re in the UK or EU, you can object:

Instagram → Settings → Privacy Centre → AI at Meta → Right to object.

I’ve submitted my objection. Just be aware that switching off AI translations is a separate setting.

I’m an artist. I create original content. And I want a say in how that work is used.

Please share this with another creator. They might have no idea.

The overwhelming part is deciding what deserves your attention.

I’m going to Armory Week both to enjoy the culture, and look closely at artists I might want to either collect myself or recommend to clients. With hundreds of events and thousands of artists, a big part of my job is wading through the noise to find the real gems out there. Taste leads. Information helps.

What’s always struck me about Ritva is her dignity and humour. I’ve known her for a few years now, and she’s got that simple boomer strength to whatever she does.

We all have challenging circumstances in our lives, but it’s incredibly hard to channel that frustration into something beautiful. Which Ritva undoubtedly does. That combination of complexity and calm is magnetic to me.

Can you name a masterpiece from the last 25 years?
Among many contemporary maestros, Kerry James Marshall, Xu Bing and Louise Giovannelli combine extraordinary originality, skill and something meaningful to say — from race and representation, to hidden labour, and distraction. Maybe the masterpieces never disappeared. Maybe we stopped knowing where to look.
