PRINT SPECIAL: Caio Locke

Dive into the wildly intricate worlds of Caio Locke in this special edition of five prints, drawn from the artist's Rio series.

Locke's process takes him to a threshold between free-flowing intuition on the one hand and communicable rationality on the other. He bridges this divide via optical layering and spatial illusion, abstraction and realism, thereby allowing for the creation of multi-dimensional urban landscapes.

#Throwback to our exhibition with Caio Locke at HKS Architects, London. Prints available to buy via @emergingartistgallery. Contact for more info.

CORPOREAL ACTS: Ruth Brenner

In this 12-part series, we explore the sculptures of Ruth Brenner, winner of last year's Ashurst Emerging Artist Sculpture Prize, 2019.

Brenner's tactile work, while being a feast for the eyes, also raises questions about the relationship between artists and the materials they work with.
Corporeality is the quality of being or having a material body; therefore Brenner's work engages with the physical and mental act of making, and with the material exploration in relation to elemental materials, elemental processes and direct engagement with materials.
Making is, therefore, inextricably linked with the outcome, which is a visual record of cognitive processes. When emotion, perception and materials work together, they become one.

A TENDER MIRAGE: Brendon Kahn

Our next 6-part series features the striking photography of Brendon Kahn, winner of last year's Ashurst Emerging Artist Photography Prize 2019.

Brendon Kahn's work explores today's reality where the approach to photography is navigated by a mirage in the vicinity of contrast and unsettling moments where uncanny disruptions defamiliarise our experiences with the ordinary.
The photographs exhibited open complex narrative possibilities. Using bold, sensual colours and powerful compositions Kahn configures a mysterious and at times destabilising reality for the viewer.

His works are currently on display at the Ashurst Emerging Artist Gallery, and available to buy via Emerging Artist Gallery
