A Budhisattva Avalokiteshvara in the Water- Moon (Shuiyueguanyin 水月觀音) manifestation. Dated 1168 Jin dynasty 金朝(1115-1234) Wood with paint and gilding

Budhisattva Avalokiteshvara in Chinese term as Guanyin. The figure relaxed posture and raised right leg indicate that it represents the water moon avatar. One of many forms taken by this popular deity in which he is seated in his personal pure land or paradise. Known as mountain Potalaka. This perfected land was originally located on an island somewhere south of India but. In Chinese traditions. The islands moved to a new location of east-coast of Zhejiang province
