Set up in 1996 as a place for artists to make work and introduce new audiences to contemporary art and creative participation, Fabrica is situated in the former Holy Trinity Church in the heart of the South Lanes. Alongside commissioning three site specific installations per year, Fabrica produces a year round engagement programme including talks, workshops, events and film screenings. Each exhibi

tion also welcomes the Friday Lates pop up cocktail bar serving drinks, music and entertainment immersed amongst the artworks. Fabrica's film programme showcases diverse and alternative films and is unparalleled in Brighton.The gallery also hosts the Artist Resource+, providing mentoring, advice and development opportunities to artists. Beyond the Gallery, Fabrica works with over 20 community groups to provide activities to those facing barriers to the arts due to health, age, income and circumstance.Our beautiful Regency Church provides the starting point for our heritage projects and events, and is available for hire for weddings, parties, corporate events and conferences. Get ready for a toe-tapping, paint-splattering, shaker-making musical adventure at Fabrica! In partnership with Little Learners, this month's Messy Play is inspired by The Great Escape Festival.

From strumming cereal guitars to scooping shiny chickpea disco balls, your little one (aged 5 months–5 years) will explore sound and texture through messy sensory trays, paint & mark-making, playdough crafts, DIY shakers & more!

Delivered in partnership with Little Learners Lewes & Brighton, these sessions are inclusive, creative, and designed to help children explore the world through sensory fun.

Are you an early career artist interested in participatory practice, creative health, and working with young people? Fabrica is offering a paid opportunity to join the Three Tenses project as an Artist-Facilitator Assistant this summer.

You'll support workshops in Whitehawk with young people aged 11–15, exploring place, identity, and mental health alongside Lead Artist Dan Thompson. The role offers hands-on experience in engagement, creative delivery, and potentially contributing to a final public artwork.

'They said: make a life that you enjoy'

Drawing and Making for Dementia continues in 2025. Facilitated by artist Jane Fordham and assisted by Elijas Grybyte.

This project delivers afternoon sessions for the residents at Brooke Mead, a Brighton & Hove City Council seniors housing site which caters specifically to people living with dementia. We are also inviting local residents living with dementia to join the sessions on a limited basis.

Inclusive to all, these workshops support any participant, regardless of artistic confidence, to express themselves free of judgement and explore creative media for a personal stimulating experience.

Afterwards, stay for a relaxed Q&A with Kate Shields, where you’ll have the chance to reflect on the process, themes, and experience of the work. They weren’t just running for medals, but to raise vital funds for Fabrica’s creative mental health projects – supporting those experiencing isolation, building resilience, and easing pressure on health services, especially during the cost-of-living crisis.
