We are delighted to present a collection of paintings and screen prints by artist Carl Stimpson at

Born in Kidderminster, Carl Stimpson is an English painter. Stimpson studied Fine Art at The Arts Institute of Bournemouth. He currently lives and works in London.

Carl Stimpson first began to develop the style he is recognised for by copying, freehand, cut-outs from magazines and newspapers. Inspired by pop-culture imagery, Stimpson would simply outline his chosen subjects within a field of even-coloured paint, leaving only the essential information remaining.

In manipulating the source image in this way, Stimpson found he was able to exploit the graphic form of his reference material to rich effect. Perhaps unwittingly, Stimpson was following in the footsteps of an art form pioneered by Belgian artist Hergé, creator of the Tintin series, called ‘ligne claire’ (literally, clear line).

The work we have in the gallery includes new screenprints, framed by Carl with unique colours which complement the prints perfectly.

Come and see the Game On exhibition this month, with each artist responding the theme of Gaming, including these framed screen prints and originals.

We are in love with these new Liz Pounsett collaged pieces in the gallery.

Both are ready to hang.

Collage by Liz Pounsett
Framed approx A3
Whistler’s Daughter £240

Portsmouth-based artist Liz Pounsett bridges the gap between collage, photography and urban art. Her work often explores the relationship between analogue collage and digital. Working mainly in collage, she combines her own photographs, found images and pages from second-hand books. Liz’s work has even incorporated David Hockney’s iconic painting, Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy. After asking him for permission, she created a large, one-off piece. In another mashup (and with the permission of his daughter) Liz uses the stunning photos of Slim Aarons to create a serene and evocative poolside setting.

Liz’s work is in private collections throughout the UK and she has sold to collectors in Europe, the USA and Asia. Collectors of Liz’s work include actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Lena Goodison has made a beautiful collection of small paintings and prints for Small Pleasures.

A Swedish self taught contemporary artist, Lena Goodison lives and works in Nottingham, UK.

The artist create colourful, bold pieces, often human portraits, still life and cats that are painted in an abstract style. Her narratives that have a cinematic aesthetic, inspired by her background in editorial fashion in Stockholm and her studies in film making.

She picks her inspiration from all her travels to colourful places and the people she meets gives her a sense of wonder.

"Play and experimentation are a crucial tool in my painting process. My work is often big, bold and contrasting. I see myself as a colourist. Thats what interests me the most. How colour can change the feel, mood and expression in an instant.

There is a word in Spanish - Duende, meaning a heighted state of emotion, expression and authenticity. I think it explains my creative process well.
I wish that my work evokes beauty, harmony and also a sense of fun and wonder."

Clients include, IKEA, SOHO Group, Shop Hacienda in Canada.
Lena has exhibited in Stockholm, London, Nottingham and Brighton.

Show extended 1 week!

We are delighted to announce that Small Pleasures at will be extended by 1 week, now running til 5 March.

Jameson Robinson has produced new paintings with amazing detail; oil paintings of book covers, tiny painted originals on cardboard 'Small Pleasures' and bricks.

Many of the gallery visitors dont realise these are original paintings as the detail and craft is so fine. Also we have a selection of prints in the gallery, so there is something to suit all walls!

Jameson Robinson lives and works in Fleet, Hampshire. Always a keen art collector and artist in his spare time, after a 30 year corporate career, Jameson gave up ‘real’ work in 2021 to pursue his love of art full time.

He now divides his time between producing original paintings in acrylic on London bricks, recycled cardboard, paper, canvas and, to date, has also released over 20 limited edition prints of his penguin images. He specialises in hand-finished and unique prints.

After a trip to the Falkland Islands in 2019, he fell in love with penguins and now mostly paints several species of penguins, often in human predicaments or as part of the iconic Penguin books book cover designs.

Jameson has had solo shows in London, Düsseldorf and Rome and has collaborated with several artists including Roy’s People, Rhys Brown, Bell Nakai, Background Bob and Freeman. He has also produced several large murals and street art pieces.

He has recently started exhibiting his works with Paxton + Glew and has also released an exclusive print through the gallery.

We are thrilled to share a collection of abstract landscape Tiffany Lynch. A popular artist in Brighton, her work captures the sea and land around Sussex often evoking the magic hour of sunrise or sunset. With a thoughtful pallette of soft complementary hues, these abstract works can enliven a wall.

"My work captures timeless moments of joy along the coastline and beyond, evoked from sea swimming, bike rides, undercliff walks, watching the murmurations dance in a dusk sky and following paths along the South Downs way. I am interested in capturing moments in time from our natural world when the spirit of this inspiration turns into the matter of paint on canvas or wood to share these connecting moments of abstract response and colour love of the gold waking first light and sleeping of the day of urban sea towns and Sussex countryside that perch along the anicent ebbing tides of chalk shorelines."

Having studied a BA in Harrow School of Art and Design UCL & both a Post Grad First Class Hons and an MA at St Martins School of Art and Design.

Tiffany now lives and works in Brighton and is Co Founder of Art Co operative Studio Greenhouse.

Winner of Habitat Brighton Art Project, selected for Matthew Burroghs Artist Support Pledge Show at Hastings Contenporary, London Group & NEAC Mall Galleries and RA Summer Show.

Debbie Lawrence has created 2 stunning new paintings for the Small Pleasures at Paxton+Glew

They both are fine examples of her sea swimmers series, each is bespoke framed and ready to hang.

Small Pleasures in blue is an exuberant artwork with neon elements; an energetic and dynamic original.

Dance of the water, has her distinctive colour palette of soft pebble colours with a bespoke frame painted in farrow and ball's Peignoir.

Debbie Lawrence is a Brighton-based painter whose work is a joyful celebration of colour and texture. Her paintings invite viewers to reflect on our profound connection to water and the transformative power of shared human experiences.

Debbie often paints large swimming events on Brighton Beach, just a short distance from her home. Recently, she captured the energy of International Women’s Day and a Pride swim, using the collective experience of people entering the water to create a figurative landscape.

“The sight, sound & energy of 500 people in the sea is so joyous and moving, everyone is so present with the moment. I love the way bodies merge, the pops of neon colours from swimming hats and the way everything fades into the horizon. It’s like I’m standing in my painting”

The artist graduated in 2001 from Loughborough university with a BA hons in Multi Media Textiles. An experimental textile course heavily focused on drawing. For many years she enjoyed a successful career in textiles, print design, illustration and fashion and now fulfilling her ambition as a painter.

Lawrence’s work is in private collections throughout the Uk, Europe and Australia.

Happy Valentines / Galentines / Special Friend Day! ❤️

Show Pony has a new collection of Love Hearts now in the gallery, plus her ever popular smileys, bananas and Heart Balloons.

Show Pony is the Pseudonym of artist and sign writer Meg Tait.

Inspired by a long-term fascination with words, fonts, fairgrounds (and a touch of kitsch), Show Pony creates illuminated artworks & fairground-inspired signs, often embellished with gold and fitted with lightbulbs. Alongside these are typographic prints, and painted cut-outs featuring icons of popular-culture.

Self-identifying as a ‘word clown’, Tait graduated with a First Class BA Hons in Fine Art whilst suspended from the ceiling in a horse costume, under the title ‘Well Hung’. This playful use of words has carried through into her practice as Show Pony.

Pop in to see the collection as part of our Small Pleasures exhibition, on now til 23 February.

Showing now in the gallery - Oli Fowler!

Whatever you like, there's an Oli Fowler screenprint for you. His prints are punchy, contemporary, great quaility, printed on super heavy weight paper and perfect for giving ❤️

Oli Fowler is an artist who specialises in screen-printing and illustration. He grew up in Hertfordshire and studied Fashion and textiles at Central Saint Martins. He received a BA in Graphic Design from Camberwell College of Arts. He now prints from his own screenprinting studio.

Oli has built up a strong list of clients from various creative disciplines, and has been commissioned for printing by Jeremy Deller, Emily Evans and Fiona Banner to name a few as well as original artwork and designs for LOM Architecture Design, The Museum of London and Island Records.

"My work is a fusion of the old and the new. Driven by nostalgia, each of my prints captures the timeless appeal of the 70s and 80s by merging digital design with handmade print techniques. The physicality of screenprinting allows my prints to hold more meaning than a static image. It’s a celebration of my practice’s roots in the poster scene of the 70s and 80s, aiming to give you a memory that jumps off the page—whether it’s an impactful phrase or an image.

The technique of screenprinting is, in itself, the best way I can imagine bringing my mission to life. The combination of dimension, image, and replication offers unmatched creative freedom, allowing me to incorporate fluro inks, metallics, glitter, and even diamond dust. The inks I use are highly pigmented, creating vibrant colors and tones that make each piece stand out." .fowlerart
