The Museum of Letters is devoted to preserving and documenting letterforms. Hundreds of signs have already been rescued from decay and the scrap heap. Typographic elements are selected independently of culture, region, language and script system. Das Buchstabenmuseum hat sich die Bewahrung und Dokumentation von Buchstaben zur Aufgabe gemacht. Today final „Type & Wine“ Event!
The official handover of the Flipper Bar curtain by Anja Lutz, Jens Bauermeister and A—Z to the Buchstabenmuseum takes place today. This special event marks the culmination of our wonderful series.
The official handover ceremony will take place at 6:30 pm accompanied by cool Caipirinhas mixed by Soraya Guimarães.
Celebrate with us, enjoy the art, and raise a glass of wine in our beautiful garden. 🍷

The art of neon and the bending of neon tubes is a fascinating craft that requires a lot of practice and expertise.
In our »Bending Basics« class you will learn the basics of neon bending in small groups, the correct handling of glass tubes in the fire, free bending as well as bending following to a pattern.
When trying out glass bending for the first time, it is important to be patient and having time to learn the techniques.
You will receive enough material and professional support to make your first neon attempts.
Of course you can take your newly bent glass tubes home with you as a souvenir!

Originating from Molz Raumdesign, a family-run business in Mariendorf, Berlin, this sign symbolizes nearly 100 years of dedication to quality and craftsmanship.
Founded in 1921, the store has survived numerous historical changes and continued under the leadership of Gabriele and Vivien Molz till the end of April this year.

Last Saturday we were part of the open day at the Stabi. It was a pleasure to talk to so many visitors and watch the children coloring our letters. Thanks to the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin for letting us be there! Were any of you there too? How did you like it?

Do you still write by hand? ✏️ The National Handwriting Day will be held on January 23, 2024. The aim of this day is to commemorate a lost art. The day is a reminder of the expressiveness of handwriting, which is increasingly being forgotten in the digital age. The best way to celebrate the day is by writing something by hand.
We are excited to announce that we have selected a new font for our museum! Thanks to fontwerk! This year we are switching to the »Neue DIN« and would like to thank fontwerk for the beautiful font! ‼️ We have extended our exhibition ‼️ »FINAL SALE - FROM DEPARTMENT STORES' TO MUSEUM« An exhibition of former department stores from 1980 to the present day. Horten, Quelle, Hertie, Kaufhof and Karstadt - corporate names that are disappearing from German city centres. Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof is currently struggling with closure in instalments. With the creeping loss of the corporations, the distinctive lettering of the department and department stores' chains is also being lost. »Final Sale« tells the typographic and urban-historical stories of the letters and shows the former significance of the department stores and their architecture. We invite you to discover the typographic department stores' icons and to buy selected items in the exhibition.
