Kalligrafie ist die Kunst des schönen Schreibens. Sie ist zugleich Kunstform und spirituelle Praxis, die Kulturen und Traditionen über Jahrhunderte hinweg verbindet. Jeden August bietet der „Welttag der Kalligrafie“ Gelegenheit, über die Schönheit, Präzision und spirituelle Tiefe des geschriebenen Wortes nachzudenken. Entdecke das Werk des Meisterkalligrafen Shams Anwari-Alhosseyni und seinen unverwechselbaren Zugang zur persischen Kalligrafie.
Seit Jahrzehnten erforscht Anwari die Möglichkeiten des geschriebenen Wortes. Seine Kompositionen sind tief in den klassischen Traditionen der persischen Kalligrafie verwurzelt und entwickeln zugleich eine ganz eigene Bildsprache. Inspiration findet er in der mystischen Dimension des Islam, in der die Einheit mit Gott jenseits der wörtlichen Textauslegung durch die Hingabe des Herzens gesucht wird. Für ihn gehören Herz und Hand zusammen. Anwari selbst beschreibt die Kalligrafie so:
„Sie ist etwas Schönes, die Schönheit, und die Schönheit verbindet man mit Gott. Sie muss einen bewegen, tief berühren. Das ist auch die Aufgabe der Kunst, den Geist zur Reflektion zu zwingen. Für mich ist es wie atmen, wenn ich nicht atme, dann lebe ich nicht. “

Each August, World Calligraphy Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the beauty, precision and spiritual depth of the written word. On this occasion, discover the work of master calligrapher Shams Anwari-Alhosseyni and his distinctive approach to Persian calligraphy.
For decades, Anwari has explored the possibilities of the written word, creating compositions rooted in the classical traditions of Persian calligraphy while developing a distinctly personal artistic language. He is inspired by the mystical dimension of Islam, where unity with God is sought beyond the literal interpretation of texts, through the devotion of the heart. For him, heart and hand belong together. As Anwari himself describes calligraphy:
“It is something beautiful—beauty itself—and beauty is associated with God. It must move you, stir you. For me, it is like breathing—if I do not breathe, I do not live.”
