Join us for Teen Art Drop In! 🎨 We have some very cool projects of the week coming up. Swipe to see what they are 👀

🗓️ Wednesdays during the school year (except stat holidays)
⏰ 3:30-6:30pm
🧑‍🎨 Ages 12-17
📍 Nanaimo Art Gallery at 150 Commercial St
🎟️ $5 drop-in ($45/10 visit punch card, $150 annual pass)

Drop in on Wednesdays to make art in a relaxed, fun environment. Use the studio supplies for your own projects, get advice from friends, or dive into the ‘project of the week’ with the help of a Gallery facilitator or guest artist. Experiment with different materials, hang out with friends, and join our creative community. Don’t miss out on the creative vibes and great company!

Be inspired to create cool hand-sewn patches to mend your clothes & reduce waste, with local upcycler Helen of ‘Reclothe’. If you have clothing you want to sew patches onto, please bring them!

Call for local Youth Artists! Sell your work in any medium in our upcoming Youth Art Market during nanaimoartwalk November 21 & 22, 2026.

Open to youth between 13-25 years old. The deadline to apply is November 5, 2026 (link in bio).

There are no vendor fees - all proceeds go to the youth artists. And you do not need to attend the market in person, gallery staff will take care of all sales & transactions. However, attending is fun & people love to engage with artists they want to buy from!

We have a whimsical new selection of autumn-themed beeswax candles made on Cortes Island by wovengoods.ca! Find classic tapered & mini candles (perfect for a birthday cake), as well as poppy seed pods, morel mushrooms, and corn cobs 🍄🌽🥀

Pop by to grab one for yourself or a friend & add a little illumination as the days are getting shorter! We are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm and 12-5pm on Sundays.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the Indigenous Artisans Market! We so enjoyed sharing the work of these incredible local Indigenous artists and artisans with you — we can hardly wait to do it again next year. Only a couple weeks left to experience our current exhibition, Biophilia! 🌿 This exhibition is all about examining our relationships with the natural world around us.

Biophilia means “love of nature.” It is the innate human desire to be in touch with living things and to bond with nature. This term sets the tone for the exhibition and encourages respect and kindness towards all forms of life—microscopic organisms, plants, and animals—and every element of the environment. It contrasts the colonial perspective of a nourishing Mother Earth—whose resources are there to exploit—with worldviews that know the Earth as an entity to unite with, care for, and love, but not possess.

Biophilia is on now until Sunday, October 11. Admission is by donation! 🎟️
