My second painting of Nanaimo heritage buildings. Great National Land Building was built in 1914 during the coal miners strike. It’s classical conservatism represented tradition, stability, and prosperity at a fractious and volatile period. It was built to standards plans designed by Bank of Commerce staff architect Victor Horsburgh.
