Megan Arundel is a self-taught artist who has exchanged paint for wool as her medium of choice, and wet felting the process in which she highlights the textures and earthy colours of nature. She recently had the opportunity to attend Fiona Duthie’s Shetland Felting Retreat, joining a group of fibre artists from around the world for an immersive experience in one of the world’s most inspiring textile regions. Guided by Fiona’s expertise and innovative approach to felting, Megan explored Shetland’s dramatic landscapes, archaeological remains and unique cultural character, capturing these influences to incorporate into her own design work.
Learning from an artist of Fiona’s calibre offers a rare opportunity to expand your understanding of felt, explore new approaches and see how materials, place and personal experience can shape contemporary fibre art.
