Rain or shine, we will see you at the last Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce Commercial Street Night Market tonight! From 5 PM - 9 PM, we are excited to have 4 artists hosting the Nanaimo Ceramic Arts Booth! We are located in front of the RBC bank on Commercial Street. See you there!
White Cat Pottery: Louise partakes in various creative endeavours including knitting, photography, graphic art and pottery. Her work includes exploration of surface decoration and patterns, creating a sense of hygge to her pieces. Her sweary dinosaurs are a huge hit, as well as the mid-century flowers that have taken centrestage in her work.
Chloe is our current artist in residence. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, now living on Gabriola Island, Chloe's work focused on developing and refining a cohesive body of work. During her residency, she continued to investigate the expressive potential of sculpted hands alongside her exploration of working with slips and carving designs.
Amélie is a Nanaimo-based mixed media artist and Registered Canadian Art Therapist. Her work is rooted in the belief that creativity and beauty belong in everyday life. Through handmade pottery and sculpture inspired by the natural world, she creates pieces that invite connection, presence and a sense of wonder.
Kira of KTX Pots is a Vancouver Island artist with a love for creating functional and beautiful pieces. I was drawn to pottery as part of a journey to get out of my head and into my body. You will see spiral themes, thoughts of the moon, dreams of the sea, and a sense of blooming in my current collection.

Our featured artist tonight is Art! Art creates functional items in his backyard shed through the summer and at Nanaimo Ceramic Arts in the winter. He uses simple techniques to create clean lines and abstract motifs. In the summer months Art creates his work on a kick wheel without plumbing or electricity. It’s sounds romantic, and sometimes it is, but he is always happy to move indoors for the winter. He has been making pottery in this way since 2019. This is his first summer selling to the public.

Visit the Nanaimo Ceramic Arts Booth at the Commercial Street Night Market tonight from 5 PM - 9 PM. We are located in front of the RBC Bank. Tonight's featured artist is Janet McDonald!
“Fine Art Painting is my passion. I paint primarily in oils as I love the opacity, buttery feel and blend- ability of this medium. I regularly use a texture paste in my under-paintings to support the narratives and concepts of my works. You will find local wildlife and people to be my favourite subjects.
In addition to my paintings and traditional reproductions, I also offer FUN & FUNCTIONAL versions of my Art including Pillow Covers, and Wooden Art Tiles. I take pride in the fact that all of my FUNCTIONAL ART reproductions use high quality materials and are locally made. My latest art obsession and works on offer are my one-of-a-kind, hand-thrown and glaze-painted Pottery Mugs!” Janet McDonald
