The TELUS World of Science - Edmonton is an interactive science centre where you can have fun with science, technology and mathematics. The centre is run by the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation, a non-profit organization, and serves to inspire lives in Edmonton and Alberta. The science centre features interactive exhibit galleries, Alberta's largest IMAX Theatre showing documentary and Hollywoo

The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the TELUS World of Science - Edmonton Science Access Pass project as the recipient of the AMA’s 2026 Leadership Award for Sustainability, in recognition of their commitment to making science accessible for all.

The Award will be presented at the Association's 55th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony presented by Know History on September 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Wyndham Edmonton Hotel and Conference Centre, held as part of the Alberta Museums Association's 2026 Conference, The Adaptable Museum: Embracing Creative Stewardship for a Sustainable Future.

Join us for an evening of stargazing as we experience a partial lunar eclipse and blood moon at the RASC Observatory in Coronation Park!

🗓 Thursday, August 27
⏰ 9:00 p.m. to midnight
🎟️ Free admission

Watch as the Moon moves through Earth’s shadow, creating a partial lunar eclipse. During this celestial event, the eclipsed portion of the Moon may appear reddish in colour, giving it the nickname 'blood moon.'

Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) volunteers will be on site to guide you through the experience and share the science behind this fascinating astronomical event. Telescopes will be available for viewing. Viewing is weather dependent. Check our social channels for updates before attending.

Please note: TELUS World of Science – Edmonton remains closed while restoration work continues. The RASC Observatory is located in Coronation Park, just southeast of the Science Centre.

We have an important update on our temporary closure.

After the initial flooding in July, several more storms caused water to re-enter areas already being assessed. Before rebuilding could begin, we needed to be confident that the risk of further water intrusion had been addressed.

We’ve now received confirmation that major repair and restoration work can move forward. The work is expected to be completed in December, with reopening planned for early 2027.

It’s later than our original estimate, but it’s a welcome step forward. Thank you for sticking with us, we can’t wait to welcome you back!

🌕 The Moon is about to turn red!

On August 27, watch a deep partial lunar eclipse unfold across the night sky. 🌙

Come to the RASC Observatory in Coronation Park from 8:30 p.m. to midnight for a closer look at this celestial spectacle, with Science Centre staff and RASC (Royal Astronomical Society of Canada) volunteers on hand to help you explore the night sky.
