The Bearclaw Gallery is pleased to present: STILL HELD New works by Laird Goulet

"These paintings explore the space between loss and support-the quiet realization that even in absence, a parent's love continues to hold us. Through colour, movement and abstraction, I reflect on memory, grief, and the invisible ways we are still carried by those who shaped us. This exhibition is not only about loss, it is about the enduring support that remains long after goodbye" -LG

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Bearclaw Gallery, celebrating 50 years as a Canadian First Nations, Metis and Inuit art dealer. As Indigenous art began to emerge with some force in the Canadian art market in the 1970’s, the Bearclaw Gallery began promoting the pioneers of the Woodlands School of Art with artists like Norval Morrisseau, Roy Thomas, Daphne Odjig, the Kakegamic family, Benjamin Chee Chee, Eddie Cobiness, Jackson Beardy and others.

Over the last five decades, the Bearclaw Gallery has established solid relationships with Indigenous artists from across Canada and has proudly promoted Canadian First Nations, Metis and Inuit art and artists to buyers both at home and internationally.

This weekend also marks the 50th Anniversary of the West End Gallery, join both the Bearclaw Gallery and the West End Gallery for a milestone celebration.

John Rombough’s painting style reflects the harmony of the Dene peoples and the natural world. His distinctive modern Indigenous designs also encompass his own personal visions and strong connection with nature. New cultural discoveries continue to provide him with an inexhaustible reservoir of ideas to put to canvas.
