The Alberta Railway Museum is now closed for the season, but we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back when we reopen in May 2027.

As we look back on the 2026 season, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited, volunteered, attended an event, and supported the Alberta Railway Museum.

2026 proved to be an exciting and successful season in many ways, and we thank you if you visited us!

This season:

🚂 A handful of our motive power volunteers got our Dash 8 ex BCOL/CN 4618 started after sitting idle in our yard for three years! 👏 🥳 It was a super-exciting day for our volunteers who worked very hard to make this happen.

🚂 For the first time in decades, we had a 2nd diesel locomotive in operation for passenger use on our long weekends. Many of the same volunteers who made mechanical magic with 4618 got CN 7944 operating and pulling our passenger coach.

🚂 We held two fundraisers this season in which train ticket proceeds were donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation and Edmonton's K.A.R.A. Family Resource Center.

🚂 Even though we had monsoon season in June and July, progress was made on our track expansion project.

🚂 We had another successful Father's Day Brunch and hosted our first Afternoon Tea in our dining car. 🥐☕️🍴

Thank you all for making this season such a success and we will see you next May long weekend!
