Did you make it to Retro Craft Night last week?

Visitors stepped back into the 1940s to craft felt floral corsages and stitch monogram embroidery inspired by pieces in our collection.

This month, Drop-In Sketching goes spooky. We pulled out all our creepy old toys, bats, ravens and animal skeletons to get you in the spirit. (See what we did there?)

Did you know about 40,000 extra workers live on the roof of the museum?

Our rooftop bee colony (nicknamed the Pollination Station) had a busy summer season. The bees live across 20 frames, four of which are full honey frames. The beekeepers recently stopped by to check on the hive and harvest some fresh honey.

Now that the weather is cooling off, the colony is naturally winding down, and our Keepers will be back soon to prepare the hives for winter.

The museum is open today from 10 am – 4 pm as we honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Join us at 1:30 p.m. for a screening of WaaPaKe (Tomorrow), Dr. Jules Arita Koostachin's powerful documentary exploring the lasting impacts of residential schools and the strength found in truth, memory, and connection.

The screening is included with general admission or a Mammoth Pass.

The Royal Alberta Museum rests on Treaty Six territory and the homeland of the Métis. In the spirit of reconciliation, admission is always free for Indigenous Peoples.
