Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo, The artist and the model, Gift of the artist 1940

The Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society fundraiser is being held in conjunction with a fantastic new exhibition celebrating local Italian heritage and featuring the artworks of one of the Gallery’s founders in 1930, Naples-born Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo (1870-1955). The exhibition, “Maestri – Influences from Italy to Australia”, showcases Dattilo-Rubbo, an influential painter and teacher, and will run from 19 September to 30 November. The exhibition is supported by Sydney’s Italian Cultural Institute; the Consulate General of Italy and support from some of Sydney's leading Italian philanthropists.

The evening includes lots of delicious Italian food from local restaurants, Italian cocktails, wine, along with music from the Beach Symphony and great auction and raffle items.

Money raised is in support of the Manly Art Gallery & Museum. Funds from events like this enabled the Society to contribute $10,000 to the Gallery to help restore some of the beautiful artworks from one of the Gallery’s founders Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo, which will be on display at the Gallery during the event.

Join the fun at our annual fundraiser at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum - Italian-themed dress, music, cocktails, wine, food and music . The evening will celebrate Italian heritage and the artist, teacher and one of the founders of the gallery in 1930, Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo. You'll be able to see the exhibition “Maestri – Influences from Italy to Australia” showcasing Dattilo-Rubbo's art.

Limited tickets so gather your friends and family quickly to book. Your entry ticket includes: Delicious cocktails, wine, food, music, access to exclusive prizes in live and silent auctions.

Dress code: A touch of Italian flair

Any funds raised will contribute to MAG&M’s art collections and special projects.

They have negotiated great access for their group at the ‘after hours’ night to have a tailor-made tour of highlights of the main Gallery and an early look at “Far Away So Close”, the first retrospective of the work of artist Janet Dawson. Plus you’ll have special access to the AGNSW Members’ Lounge for wine and supper. To top it off, they have organised a bus back to Manly to make the trip a little easier. This will sell fast as only 50 places.
