If you're in Cairns, don't miss visiting the Cairns Art Gallery. Amongst the amazing exhibitions currently on show, the State Library of Queensland's "Queensland to a T" is at the Cairns Art Gallery until 8 March 2026. It features the souvenir tea towel collection of the late Glenn R. Cooke, social historian, curator and collector.

In his memory, PGQ has recently renamed its special initiative bursary, the "Glenn R. Cooke Bursary". Details of all PGQ's bursaries can be found on the PGQ website.

The humble tea towel can offer a fascinating glimpse into our values, aspirations and omissions. Queensland to a T looks at how tea towels through time became desirable Queenslandiana, often enforcing certain iconography to be associated with the sunshine state 🌞

Queensland to a T was developed by State Library of Queensland and runs until 8 March 2026.

📷 Summit Souvenir, The Sunshine and North Coast of Queensland 1950s, 81.4 x 51.7cm, Glenn R. Cooke Souvenir Textiles Collection. Item no. 1443. John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland.
