A monoprint is a form of printmaking in which an image is made from a smooth surface or ‘plate’ coated in printing ink, oil paint, watercolour, etc. In contrast with other printing techniques, only one final image is made, this technique allows for expressive techniques reminiscent of a drawing or painting.

We are pleased to welcome New Zealand artists Julz Henderson and Kathy Boyle to the gallery with their exhibition - ‘Wai, Water, from the Mountains to the Sea.’

Exhibition dates: 7th - 24th October

As New Zealanders we all have a close proximity to water.The long narrow shape of New Zealand with its mountainous spine creates turbulent rivers, exquisite lakes, and a vast  coastline.Our work explores the our personal relationships with the waters journey from the mountains to the sea.

We welcomed new participants to our Letterpress Club who enjoyed discovering some of our font treasures and images too! Thank you Abbi Gilbert for supervising.
You can book upcoming Letterpress sessions via our Website SHOP. Remember you can add letterpress type onto prepared prints or paper, and make wonderful artworks as well as greeting cards ahead of the festive season.

The Firestation Print Studio thanks the City of Stonnington for supporting our PRINT CLUB programs and events.

Print Clubs support promotion and celebration of arts programs with a wide audience. These programs promote the City of Stonnington as a creative destination for community residents and those outside the boundaries and connects communities through equitable, inclusive and accessible creative practice. Lino Club supports all local creative individuals and their growth as artists - including people experiencing vulnerability.

PLEASE NOTE: Our Print Clubs are not teaching sessions, participants need to have some knowledge of the technique prior to attending. Advice from supervisors is on hand and fellow participants are often keen help out too. If you are wanting to learn this technique please book a workshop or a 1:1 tutorial - email us at [email protected] to book.

PRICING
$16.50 - $30 per session
BLACK RELIEF PRINTING INK PROVIDED

You bring whatever you like to work on, and you may use the presses. It’s very social, with lots of laughs. You learn a lot from others and teach others too. Those new to printmaking work alongside established printmakers.
REMEMBER - closed toed shoes only in print studios.
As always, smile, learn, share knowledge and create!

A fabulous afternoon of PRINTING Linocuts for our annual STONNINGTON SENIORS PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP today.
Congratulations to all the participants - your prints were fantastic and we loved working with you all today to share our love of printmaking.

Stonnington Seniors aged 55+ and new to the Firestation Print Studio, were invited to enjoy a free day of printmaking using our presses with a team of Supervisors, assistants and volunteers.

Thank you Abbi Gilbert and Patricia Agus for supervising, Luci Renault and Nina Martin and our volunteers for the day J. L. Dresdon and Bernice Tate
