This month, the Pan-African Film Caravan presents Difret (2014), directed by Zeresenay Berhane Mehari. 🎬

Based on the true story of Hirut Assefa, a 14-year-old Ethiopian schoolgirl who faces prosecution after resisting her abduction, Difret is a powerful exploration of justice, tradition and the courage required to challenge deeply rooted social structures.

Presented in anticipation of Turning Towards the Sun, the Pan-African Film Caravan brings together cinematic voices from Africa and its diaspora, inviting Cape Town audiences to experience stories that expand the continent’s cinematic canon.

Join us for the screening, followed by a communal conversation led by the Zeitz MOCAA curatorial team.

This Women’s Day, we celebrate the stories, voices and visions of women who continue to shape the cultural landscape.

Across Zeitz MOCAA, the work of women artists and writers invites us to look closer, listen deeply and engage with histories, identities and experiences from across Africa and its diaspora.

Their work reminds us that storytelling can challenge, preserve, question and imagine new possibilities.

This Women’s Month, spend time with their work across the museum.

The stories. The voices. The visionaries. The work continues.

Happy Women’s Day 🖤
