These are some of the artists Kobus Walker names as important influences on his practice.
Yet his intention is not to reproduce what came before. He takes these references and remoulds them into his own visual language and contemporary statement.

His work reflects both a respect for artistic tradition and a desire to continue experimenting and evolving.

A painting that rewards a second look.

Kobus Walker’s work is about more than what first catches the eye.
Colour, composition, design and detail come together to create paintings that reveal themselves gradually.

Kobus describes his work as layered, encouraging viewers to move closer, investigate and discover the visual language within each piece.

Kobus Walker creates paintings that invite the viewer to spend time with them.

As he describes his work, he wants viewers to experience “a sense of calm and excitement at the same time”, encouraging them to move closer and investigate the combination of colour, composition and design.

His paintings are layered with detail, revealing more the longer you look.
