This is a quiet morning in my studio before the painting begins. If you’ve ever wondered what the start of an artwork feels like, this is it.There is a moment...

We’re at Breede River Escape for a few days.

Camping has become the way we step out of the noise of daily life. No rushing. No constant notifications. Just canvas, sky, and time moving at its own pace.

All I can hear is quiet.
And birds.

It’s a different kind of fullness. Simple. Honest. The kind that reminds me I’m allowed to live fully, even in small, ordinary moments like this.

Sometimes switching off doesn’t require a grand plan. Just a tent. A river. And the willingness to be still.

BIG NEWS! I am part of 100 Emerging Artworks!

My submission for 100 Emerging Artworks, an internationally recognised initiative by the Arts to Hearts Project, has been forwarded to the review jury! 🌍✨

Thousands of artists from around the world enter this competition each year, and simply passing the first barrier feels like a huge honour. To have my work considered among the most promising emerging artists is already an incredible milestone. Just to be part of this journey is amazing, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Have you ever leapt at something that felt bigger than yourself? This is that moment for me.

You don’t just see—you feel.

*Life Untamed* (55 × 76 cm | $900) layers oil, cold wax, and stitched thread to create texture you don’t just see—you feel. Every stitch traces connection, repair, and movement across the canvas.

Available now. What story do you see in these threads?

You feel it!
There’s a moment in every painting when it stops being just paint and becomes a story.

Life Untamed (55 × 76 cm | 21.65 × 29.92 in) began as layers of oil and cold wax, vibrant reds, blues, and golds mingling on the canvas. But the story truly emerged when I picked up the needle.

Weeks passed. Each stitch was a deliberate act—piercing, threading, tugging—until the surface became a landscape of connection and repair. Tufts and dense circles, taut lines and delicate pathways, all trace the journey from brokenness to resilience. It’s a meditation in color, texture, and time.

Berlin-based gallerist and art consultant Irina Rusinovich, educated in London and Berlin and editor-in-chief who curates exhibitions and coaches independent artists globally, captured it perfectly: “These aren’t flat images—they’re physical, almost sculptural, and you can tell each mark was made with intention and feeling. You don’t just observe the work—you experience it.”

This piece is available for collectors. Step closer. Feel the threads. Where does your story meet mine?

A canvas is never really finished—sometimes it’s waiting for a needle.

When I pick up thread, I’m not just adding texture—I’m creating a narrative of repair, connection, and resilience. each stitch mirrors the slow work of life: patience, persistence, and presence. In teaching at LifeArt Academy, I see students struggle with rushing—but art, like life, unfolds in its own time. My own paintings often take 100 hours or more, each layer a meditation on patience, each stitch a small act of care.

This piece is still on my easel.
