Everyone at Artworks was saddened when we received the following message regarding Ron Propst on Thursday:

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Ron passed away yesterday, July 17th, after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife Tamara and sister Denise at home during his final moments. While this journey has been challenging for Ron and our family, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace and free from pain. We extend our gratitude for your ongoing support during this difficult time.” -- The Propst Family

We owe so much to Ron and Tamara for their commitments to the arts and especially for allowing Artworks to have a home in which to grow and flourish for so many years.

Artworks Gallery is excited to present a unique two person exhibit by Julian Silverman and Elliot Strunk titled “GRIT” The show is a combination of the work of two artists under a single theme, focusing on the overlooked moments and objects found in urban landscape. Julian Silverman is a street and cityscape photographer from New York City who has recently relocated to Winston-Salem. His work focuses on the unintended beauty and narratives coming through stolen moments in time. Elliot Strunk is a collage artist who uses discarded items in his work. His compositions highlights items of visual interest often discarded once their original use have been exhausted. A throughline of his work is what we all consume in terms of food, time, and information. Opening yesterday (2/26),the exhibit runs through Saturday, March 25th, with a reception on Thursday, March 16th. Artworks is located at 564 Trade St NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
