The Brownhelm Historical Calendar Committee is reminding everyone that the deadline to be a calendar sponsor for next year is August 22nd.
If you are interested please call Marilyn Brill at 440-988-4550, the fee in only $25 and you will receive a calendar for 2027.
The theme is "Activities at the Brownhelm School" and each month shares the history about cheerleading, driver's education, home economics, shop class, yearbook, student council and most of the popular sports.
Thanks for helping to support this project as we offer our 32nd annual historical issue about our Brownhelm area.

The Memorial Service for BHA Lifetime member, Richard De Barnes will be at Brownhelm Cemetery on Wednesdsy, July 22nd at 1 pm.
Richard passed away on July 6th at 95 years of age. He and his late wife, Helen Henning lived at the Henning homestead on Cooper Foster and Sunnyside Roads.
Richard taught classes in the Lorain area and was a Principal when he retired from his career in education.
Join us as we meet his family and share a few words about Richard, and his long rewarding life.

Tonight at 7pm!

This Wed, July 8 at 7pm, Eric Rivet will present "Sacrificed at Gettysburg: Elijah Hayden and Henry Fairchild," at our Hall, 113 South Lake Street, Amherst, Ohio 44001!

The Battle of Gettysburg was one of the Civil War's great turning points. The three-day struggle in a small Pennsylvania town took the lives of more
than 7,000 men and left more than 40,000 men wounded. Included in those casualties were two local men: Elijah Hayden of Elyria, and Henry Fairchild of Brownhelm. These two men participated in some of the battle's fiercest action at great cost to themselves.

Join us to learn more about these men, the regiments in which they served, and how the greatest battle of the Civil War forever changed their lives.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native Eric Rivet has worked in the museum field for 30 years. He worked on the historic naval ships USS Kidd and USS Slater for thirteen years before becoming one of the curators of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. In 2015, he and his wife Kate (who met while they were both interns with the National Park Service in Gettysburg) moved back to Kate's home state of Ohio. Eric has been the Chief Curator of the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland for the past ten years.
