Opening Sept. 20, 2016, the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame honors those whose names are synonymous with all that is the best in Lorain athletic achievement. New inductees are named annually. Their plaques and other Lorain sports memorabilia are displayed in the LSHOF Museum. The single most important factor for selecting those to be enshrined is that the general public nominates them. Nominations are accepted year-round; however, only those received by September 30th are eligible for that year’s screening committee detailed evaluation process. We are sure that many of your acquaintances would be eligible for the Hall of Fame; however, this will not happen until YOU, the public, submit their name and personal qualifications. The end result of this process is to establish a ballot for final election. The Hall of Fame Committee then votes in February to select the Class of Inductees that are enshrined at the annual Banquet in May.

LSHOF President Cliff German awards Tyshawn Lighty of Lorain High School his All-State plaque from the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame. Tyshawn was selected Division 1, second team, defensive back. This is Tyshawn's second All-State award; last year he was Division 1, second team, receiver. Tyshawn has been offered a scholarship to play at Notre Dame College. Congratulations to Tyshawn!

Sept. 30, 2019, is the fast-approaching deadline for nominating Lorain athletes you think are worthy of induction into the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame. The Lorain Sports Hall of Fame proudly announces its 50th Anniversary Class of 2019 Enshrinees. The group will be enshrined at the LSHOF banquet on May 11 at German's Villa.

Mmmmm, STEAK FRY MARCH 3
The Lorain Sports Hall of Fame will have a fundraiser steak fry on Sunday, March 3, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442 located at 1161 Milan Avenue in Amherst. Dinner is $25 per ticket and includes a steak, baked potato, salad, roll, beverage and dessert -- $5 of the ticket price goes for a 50/50 raffle. A basket raffle also will be held. Extra 50/50 tickets will be available for $5 each or three for $10. Call Bambi Dillon for tickets or any questions at 440-989-6539.
