SLC Q***r is now on display at the Urban Arts Gallery!

Featuring artists from across the community working in a variety of mediums, this showcase celebrates creativity, identity, and self-expression. Filled with color, beauty, and personal storytelling, each piece offers a unique perspective and invites viewers to connect with the experiences and voices of Utah's LGBTQ+ community.

We're incredibly proud of our participating artists and can't wait for you to experience their work.

Next up on our Pop-Verse: a Fan Art Collection feature is Kristen Batt (.art). All of these are available for purchase at the Urban Arts Gallery, but the showcase is ending in a few days, so come by now to see them and support other local artists!

"Through drawing and painting, I explore the quiet power of portraiture—whether it’s the iconic magnetism of a celebrity, the soulfulness in a pet’s eyes, or the calm expanse of a natural landscape. Each subject brings its own kind of energy and story, and I aim to capture that essence with detail, warmth, and color."

Kristen has been involved with making art from a young age. Having suffered from severe social anxiety and selective mutism she found her art was a form of communication that was celebrated. After honing her skills throughout college, she went on to become a graphic designer and then special education teacher. She is a wife, mother and pet parent. Kristen enjoys creating images from our modern culture that resonate with people of all ages.

We have a full month of events and opportunities ahead, including a new showcase, paint nights, our Connect Program, and GROW, our community art critique group.

Boutique artist applications are also closing soon, so be sure to submit your work if you’re interested in hanging your art in our gallery.

Utah artists, this is your reminder: applications for the rest of our showcase season are open and waiting for your applications!

Apply to one theme or apply to them all. Accepted artists will have the opportunity to hang and sell their work at Urban Arts Gallery for the duration of the showcase month with no rental fee required.

We’re excited to see the creativity, perspectives, and talent our local art community brings to each exhibition.

Some amazing sculptural works by Cisco () in our Pop-Verse: a Fan Art Collection showcase. These two eye-catching and one-of-a-kind pieces are both still for sale, so come to the Urban Arts Gallery to see them before the showcase ends!

Cisco is a multidisciplinary artist known for a versatile, no-rules approach to creating. Working across painting and sculpture, his practice moves through oil, acrylic, watercolor, and physical form without hierarchy. Layered textures, raw marks, and constant shifts in medium define work that’s built on experimentation and refusal to stay fixed. "My work exists between painting and sculpture, shaped by a multidisciplinary process of layering and revision. Materials are pushed, reduced, and reassembled to create surfaces that hold both control and unpredictability. Versatility is central, allowing the work to remain open, precise, and continuously evolving."

Are you interested in having your art in the Urban Arts Gallery? We want you to apply! This application closes June 15th. Accepted applicants get the opportunity for a six month contract at the gallery located at The Gateway in Salt Lake City.

Love, color, and courage fill the air in SLC Q***r, a showcase made to celebrate the self-expression and creative spirit that thrives within Salt Lake City's LGBTQ+ community. For the month of June, you can support these local artists by coming into the Urban Arts Gallery and seeing their work. Honor the beauty and authenticity that blossoms when we live our truth. We'll see you there!

This showcase hangs from June 2-28 and the artist reception will be held at the Urban Arts Gallery on June 19th from 6-9 PM.

Next up on our Pop-Verse: a Fanart Collection artist features, we have some graphite works by Yusdelly ().

Yusdelly is a visual artist based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her work blends pop culture, superheroes, and science fiction with a playful, narrative approach. For the past eight years, she has participated in FanX Comic Convention in Salt Lake and has taught personalized art classes for children, engaging diverse audiences through workshops and exhibitions.

All of these works are available for purchase this month at the Urban Arts Gallery, so come in to support our local artists!

Next up on our artist features for Pop-Verse: a Fanart Collection, we have .

Known online as Winterstar Art, they are are a full-time illustrator based in northern Utah. She draws inspiration from fandom and pop culture, and uses digital art as a medium to bring it to life in a new light. She has been featured in magazines, won art contests, worked with top brands, and currently travels all over the US to share her art. With an online following of over 50k, she loves to teach beginning artists how to create a life they love.

Featuring six digital prints, "Beneath the Surface", "Hermitcraft National Park", "Minecraft Florals", "Deep Space 9 Risograph", "Thus Always To Tyrants", and "Everything You’ve Done To Keep Me Alive". Each of these prints is available to purchase at the gallery.
