Helper Sublime is a photography series by multidisciplinary artist Kevin Perry that grew out of spending time in and appreciating the subtle, yet powerful details of Helper, Utah – old buildings, cars, quiet corners, the occasional odd discovery, and the surrounding landscape.

“To me, Helper Sublime is the best way to describe this place. There’s an energy to Helper that’s hard to define, but easy to feel. The layers of history and curious details keep revealing themselves the longer you stay. It’s a town that quietly gets under your skin.” – Kevin Perry  Each of the featured photographs are available in a limited edition of 5. Congratulations to Modern West artist on the unveiling of her mural design for the beloved 9th & 9th whale, “Out of the Blue.” 🌊🐋

On the evening of August 1, aka 801 Day, Salt Lake City revealed Lee-Lodge’s new design. The mural, titled “Open Your Eyes,” draws inspiration from Great Salt Lake, Utah’s expansive skies, and the movement of water, using gradients of pink and blue, flowing wave patterns, and colorful dots to create a dynamic surface that shifts as viewers move around the sculpture. Lee-Lodge will begin painting in late August.

Jiyoun Lee-Lodge is a Korean-born, Salt Lake City–based artist working across painting, drawing, installation, and public art. Since 2018, her ongoing ”Waterman” series has examined resilience and fragility during periods of transition, including immigration, relocation from New York to Utah, and the global pandemic.

Congratulations to Modern West artist , whose incredible ceramic installations are on display across the West!

Images 1-2: Dara Hartman’s mesmerizing “Young” is featured in Modern West’s upstairs gallery space for our colorful summer curation. Inspired by a quilt found in her grandmother’s house, this installation recalls not only physical objects and spaces, but also the memories tied to them.

Images 3-4: On view at the Carbondale Clay Center in Colorado, Hartman presents her work and juries the exhibition “Heirlooms.” Her newest installation “Pearl,” represents the artist’s Great Aunt Margaret and her distinct crochet work. Visit the exhibition now through August 28.

Images 5-6: Select small works by Hartman are on display in “Rocky Mountain Women: The Grand Banquet Table”at the Nicolaysen Museum in Casper, WY. In conversation with works from other women artists across the West, Hartman’s small pieces will be available for viewing through December 19.

We’re thrilled to see “Fidalis Buehler: Drifting” included on the featured exhibitions page on !

On view at the UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount in Orem, Utah, “Fidalis Buehler: Drifting” brings together recent and new work in painting, printmaking, and wood sculpture, exploring themes of identity shaped by the artist’s Euro-American and Pacific Island heritage.

Modern West is pleased to collaborate with in loaning Buehler’s works for the show. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the exhibition in person through September 26.
