Diwali is a Hindu celebration of light. As we continue our celebration of Diwali we are going to be making marigold flowers to decorate and hearing from our special guest Caru Das from the Radha Krishna Temple! During Diwali, people use marigolds to decorate because of the color and the scent. The bright smell is believed to help improve mood, and the vibrant color brings good luck. Do you have questions about the museum after the emergency alert from the state? Discovery Gateway will still be open from Thursday - Sunday! We are following all guidelines from the Salt Lake City Health Department and here are the answers to a few FAQ's that we have been receiving!

- The museum's capacity is still reduced for each time block.

Ada Lovelace is one of the earliest computer scientists. She lived in the 1800’s. Along with her mentor Charles Babbage, she went on to write the first design for a computer. Today we are going to teach you how to make an easy no-sew mask with just a t-shirt you no longer use and some scissors. For this activity, we suggest that adults and children work together to make the masks. While the adult makes a mask for the child, the child can create a mask for a stuffed animal friend. This a good opportunity to discuss the reason why we are wearing masks in an informal and relaxed way!
