Clay Grubbs is September’s Featured artist. His painted pieces show intensely layered, gestural mark-making with complex patterning and color saturation. These are not casual works. They’re evidence of cathexis in action—psychological energy materialized through sustained engagement with materials and form.
We invite you to visit the gallery, noon to 6pm, 11-5 Sundays.

Coming September 1: Cathexes by Clay Grubbs

We’re pleased to present Cathexes, a September exhibition featuring the work of Art at the Main member Clay Grubs.

Clay’s work explores the experience of thought—not by illustrating a specific object, but by allowing ideas, gestures, and sensations to emerge through the creative process. His pieces invite us to look beyond what is depicted and consider how it feels to think.

As Clay puts it:

“Each mark made is a response to the last and a prompt for the next.”

That sense of dialogue and discovery is at the heart of Cathexes. Each work develops through the relationships between marks, forms, lines, and space, creating something that is as much an experience as an object.

Come spend some time with Clay’s intriguing and thought-provoking work this September.

🎨 Artist Spotlight: Randy Martin

We’re proud to celebrate our Art at the Main member Randy Martin and his recent success at Art at the Barn in Draper!

This was Randy’s first outdoor art show, and despite the heat, he had a fantastic experience. With more than 1,000 people attending, the event stayed busy throughout the day, giving Randy plenty of opportunities to share his work and meet fellow art lovers.

And the response was wonderful—Randy sold four original paintings along with a whole bunch of prints, including three that found homes beautifully matted and framed. ❤️

Randy says, “It was a great show and I do plan on attending it again next year.”

We can see why! Congratulations, Randy, on a terrific show and on sharing your beautiful paintings with so many people. We’re delighted to have you as part of the Art at the Main family!

🌲 Reflections of Yellowstone 🌲

There’s something wonderfully quiet about this painting by Caryn Feeney. The trees stand tall above the water, while their reflections dissolve into layers of blue, brown, and gold—turning the landscape into almost a dream.

“Reflections of Yellowstone” captures that particular magic of Yellowstone: stillness, depth, and the feeling that the landscape continues beneath the surface.
