Adorno ADORNO presents Locally Curated Collections from distinct design communities around the world Launching in Spring 2017.

ADORNO International Design Collaboration is a network of designers and curators from design communities around the world. Our goal of the collaboration is to empower designers and design communities and to contribute to a more culturally diverse world. We’re building a platform for Curators, Designers, Collectors and Design Enthusiasts to meet. Over the next 12 months, curators from 20 design des

tinations around the world will present a portfolio from leading designers from each of their regions. Design enthusiasts and collectors are invited to join the collaboration on this journey where the best of contemporary collectible design-art, new trends and styles will be exhibited in the gallery on a regular basis. We will host digital design-art exhibitions, always curated exclusively for Adorno by leading design curators. The selected curators involved are all design experts from each respective design region they represent; internationally recognized for their work with designers and impact on local design communities. Adorno provides the infrastructure for this unique collaboration; the digital platform with portfolios, gallery and editorial content, a global shipping solution, and the promotional activities of the collaboration. We facilitate a new network and marketplace to empower local design communities. First up we will present curated design portfolios and online exhibitions from Amsterdam, Istanbul, Brussels, Copenhagen and Sao Paulo available exclusively on adorno.design. Everything will always be unique, limited and small scale. We remain critical and inclusive by the process of curation, yet we always make sure you deal directly with the designer.

Arco Massiva Chair by DONÓ Design

The Arco Chair is part of the MASSIVA collection, which explores the relationship between geometry and matter.�Its composition brings together volumes, curves and different textures. There is weight, softness and irregularity.

The piece is made in solid Jequitibá Rosa wood, stained ebony black. The oil-and-wax finish preserves the grain and the material’s tactile character.

The voluminous, pyramidal legs lend weight and stability to the piece, while the seat, with a concave underside, is upholstered in black velvet, in contrast to the rigidity of the wood. The structure combines traditional and contemporary joinery techniques, with hidden, hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joints, reinforced with dowelling, and a polished stainless steel tubular structure connecting the seat to the backrest.

The backrest, in cast aluminium, forms a downturned crescent, hand-modelled and cast in green sand. Its textured surface bears irregularities, variations and marks inherent to the process. The descending curve stands in contrast to the pyramidal forms of the legs. The downturned crescent, raised above the structure, alludes to the feminine, wisdom and rebellion.

Eocene – Lounge Chair by Epoche Studio

The Eocene Lounge is part of EPOCHE Studio’s Eocene Collection, which brings 50-million-year-old Green River fossils into contemporary furniture and objects.

Constructed from dark-stained plywood, fossil stone, and a removable linen cushion, the lounge chair draws from the layered geology surrounding a fossil before it is separated from its stone matrix. Angular planes build a protective, stratified structure around the body, while fossils embedded into the two side panels appear as traces preserved within the layers.

The contrast between the dark plywood and exposed fossil stone recalls the moment an ancient form is revealed from its surrounding rock. Rather than treating the fossil as ornament, the chair integrates it into the architecture of the object, allowing natural history to become part of an everyday physical experience.

By translating geological layering into furniture, the Eocene Lounge transforms a place of rest into a quiet encounter with deep time—bringing material formed millions of years ago into direct contact with the present.

Ceramic Sculptor Stella Arion, United Kingdom

Stella Arion is a London-based ceramic sculptor whose work sits between contemporary sculpture, collectible design and material research. Working primarily with black stoneware and industrial glazes, she creates hand-built sculptural objects that explore pressure, distortion and the body as a site of structural tension. Her forms are not conceived as functional vessels, but as autonomous objects shaped by force, memory and material resistance. Each piece is built by hand, using coiling and experimental surface processes developed through extensive testing. Research is central to her practice and often takes place on site, through residencies, fieldwork and direct encounters with specific landscapes, materials and environments. Arion’s practice has developed through two interconnected strands of research: specialist ceramic residencies, where material knowledge and technical processes are expanded and field-based residencies in remote natural environments, where landscape, geological pressure and bodily experience become sources for sculptural language.

Vortice 50 Side Table In Stainless Steel by T44 design studio

The Vortice line is shaped by movement. Its geometry, inspired by the aerodynamics of a propeller, creates a silhouette that sits lightly in the space, balancing robustness and lightness.

At 51 cm tall, it features a second functional level for books and objects. Versatile, it can be used as a side table or bedside table, combining a sculptural presence with the solidity needed for everyday use.

Crafted from laser-cut 304 stainless steel sheets, precision-folded and assembled with visible screw connections, the piece reveals its construction while reinforcing its industrial character. The orbital satin finish lends a silky appearance that helps minimize signs of everyday wear.

Arcy Floor Lamp In Lava Stone by MERCOEUR EDITION

The lamp adopts the archetype of the luminaire with the intention that it is the material and craftsmanship that takes center stage.

There was a desire to design it as a monobloc element of enameled lava stone. Due to the constraints of the kiln, the lamp was decomposed into “bricks” which are assembled together, creating a rhythm through the presence of joints and enamel. This green enamel gradually fades to white in the lampshade to diffuse a soft and warm light.
