His photobook, Love Letters to Donbas, brings together more than a decade of photographs—a personal record of its people, landscapes, and everyday life before and during Russia’s invasion.

Created in memory of Lauren Alix Brown, a founding editor at Quartz Media and a dedicated mentor to emerging journalists, the fellowship provides reporting grants and professional development opportunities to reporters from underrepresented backgrounds.

2021 marked 10 years of the Bronx Documentary Center.

A decade after opening at 614 Courtlandt Avenue, the BDC entered its next chapter during a period when New York City was only beginning to gather again.

Throughout the year, we continued bringing together photography, education, journalism, and community—from helping Bronx residents access the Excluded Workers Fund and offering free Valentine’s Day portraits to welcoming audiences back for exhibitions, screenings, and artist conversations.

After a decade in the South Bronx, the heart of the BDC remained the same: creating a space where stories could be shared, communities supported, and people brought together.
