Daybreak Arts is building an Event Volunteer Team to help support our upcoming fall and winter holiday markets, festivals, and community events!

Our event volunteers will play an important behind-the-scenes role in helping us create welcoming, organized spaces where community members can shop artwork created by Daybreak artists, connect with our mission, and support our artists.

We’re looking for people who enjoy hands-on work and are willing to pitch in before and after events. No special experience is required—just a willingness to help and work as part of a team.

Volunteer responsibilities may include:
* Setting up tables, artwork displays, signage, and event materials
* Moving and organizing supplies
* Helping arrange marketplace, activity, and gathering areas
* Packing artwork, displays, and supplies at the end of events
* Breaking down tables, signage, and other event materials
* General cleanup, organizing, and lifting as needed

As part of our Event Volunteer Team, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for individual events and shifts throughout the fall and winter based on your availability. You don’t have to commit to every event—just let us know when you’re available to help!

Your support behind the scenes helps our staff focus on our artists and ensures each event runs smoothly. We’re excited to build a team of reliable volunteers who can help us make our upcoming events a success.

Yesterday, we launched our new music program to create space for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to reconnect with music, build confidence, and share their talents.🎶

Our first Jam Session & Open Mic was filled with music, encouragement, and connection.💛 Participants performed original songs (shout out Ellie Kane) and covers, played alongside other musicians, and simply enjoyed being in a room where they could share their love of music with others. Our volunteer musicians provided accompaniment, encouragement, and helpful advice and connections around songwriting and Nashville’s music community.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make our first session possible, especially our volunteer musicians, Trinity Community Commons for hosting us, and The Nashville Food Project for providing refreshments for our musical participants!

We’re excited to keep building this program!🎹🎸🎤🥁

Email us at [email protected] if you want to get involved with our music program!

Music has always been a way to connect, express ourselves, and find community—but access to instruments, equipment, and welcoming spaces isn’t always easy to come by.

That’s why we’re launching a new music program at Daybreak Arts designed to make music more accessible to people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity!

Thank you Nashville Noise for sharing more about our new music program and why we created it!

Our first Music Jam Session & Open Mic is this Sunday, August 30, from 2–5pm at Trinity Community Commons!

Thank you Nashville Noise for sharing our new music program!

For people experiencing housing insecurity, access to creative outlets can be difficult to come by. A new Nashville program is hoping to change that through music.

Yesterday, Next Horizon Academy artists Ellie Kane and AM Hassan shared a preview of their upcoming solo exhibitions as part of our Exhibition Preview Series, sponsored by Eaton.

Eaton’s sponsorship of our Next Horizon Academy pilot program supported the 1:1 mentorship, workshops, and concept development that have helped Ellie and AM Hassan develop their exhibitions and grow as artists throughout the program.

During the Exhibition Preview Series yesterday, Ellie and AM Hassan presented their exhibition concepts, shared the artwork they’ve created, answered questions, and received thoughtful encouragement and feedback from fellow Daybreak artists and guests. These moments give our artists an opportunity to practice talking about their work, build confidence, and celebrate their creative voices with a supportive community.

A special thank you to Hattie B's Hot Chicken for donating a meal for our artists before the preview began. Providing meals is one small but meaningful way we can make sure our artists don’t have to worry about being hungry while participating in our programs—and, just as importantly, create time for artists to sit down, share a meal, and build community together.

We’re proud of Ellie and AM Hassan and grateful to everyone who helped make yesterday’s gathering possible.

Behind every piece of art is an artist with a story, a perspective, and something to say.🎨🖼️

At Daybreak Arts, we believe our artists deserve to be seen—not just for the challenges they’ve experienced, but for their creativity, talent, and the work they bring into the world.🌎

These are some of the people behind the art. We’re proud to share their stories, their voices, and their work with our community.💛

Introducing the first-ever Next Horizon Academy Exhibition Preview Series sponsored by Eaton!☀️

Join us on Thursday, August 27th at the Daybreak Arts Gallery from 2:30–3:30pm for an afternoon celebrating the hard work of A.M. Hassan and Ellie Kane as part of our inaugural Next Horizon Academy pilot program!

Since this spring, A.M. Hassan and Ellie have been working one-on-one with mentors to develop the concepts, language, and artwork for their own solo exhibitions. During this five-month pilot, they have been building the creative vision and skills needed to bring those exhibitions to life—and now, we’re giving you a first look!👀

This exhibition preview series builds on the success of our pilot, when Next Horizon Academy artist Bandy completed their solo exhibition, “The Liminoid,” in May 2026. Bandy’s exhibition marked an important milestone for the program and demonstrated what’s possible when artists have dedicated mentorship, resources, and support to develop their own creative vision!

Come see A.M. Hassan and Ellie’s exhibition previews and hear directly from both artists during an artist talk about their work, creative process, and vision for their upcoming solo shows.🖼️

We’re incredibly grateful to Eaton for sponsoring the Next Horizon Academy pilot program. Their support helped make paid mentorships, workshops, and the development of these solo exhibitions possible!

And this is just the beginning! A.M. Hassan and Ellie will continue in Next Horizon Academy’s year-long program, where they’ll further develop their solo exhibitions and receive support in marketing, promoting, and ultimately executing their shows.

Also thank you to Hattie B’s for generously donating the artist meal for our Next Horizon Academy artist talks on August 27th!

📍 Daybreak Arts Gallery, 1207 Dickerson Pike
